Years later, on a spring morning, a grown Izuku holds a cherry petal and remembers Operation Troy as the heroes' one real chance to level the war, and how hard the wind blew at the end. In the present, All Might keeps his rewinding enemy occupied by refusing to trade blows, banking off walls with "Tentacole" arms and "Froppy" suction pads, betting that boredom is the one thing All For One cannot tolerate. He arms "Shoto" and "Tailman", planning a heavy attack that demands far more power than the suit can supply, and calls up to a pair of bird-shaped "Anima" drones to hold up their end. All For One answers by webbing the alley with Rivet Stab, the tendrils sprouting enormous heads, tears off the "Tailman" tip, and tells the old man his smile is gone and the world is about to watch a sick imitation of youth die. A punch straight into the scar drops All Might into the pavement coughing blood, and he responds by trapping the villain with tentacles, jamming "Shoto" into his mouth, and freezing him from the inside while promising that any light he snuffs will simply be carried by someone else.

At the Troy staging grounds, Kunieda has bound the hero group in carnivorous plants that drain flesh, energy, and the lipids Fat Gum needs for Fat Absorption. Battered and unable to aim Navel Laser without his ruined Sparkle Belt, Can't Stop Twinkling is urged on anyway. The villain sneers at the League's old mole while holding the belt's broken lens, and the boy answers that his disgrace has become fuel to shine alongside his classmates. His wild volley misses, and a barely visible Invisible Girl gathers the scattered beams and mirrors them back with pinpoint accuracy through Warp Refraction: Navel Laser, ending Kunieda.

The "Anima" drones tow power-station cables into a hovering cannon, Hercules locks on, and All Might fires "Can't Stop Twinkling" point blank, sacrificing the "Tentacole" arms to dive clear. The beam melts buildings, the machine strains, and he orders it to keep firing, holding the villain in place with "Sound Wave Vibration: Earphone Jack" while the suit's "Invisible Girl" resin coating survives the radiation, since he lacks the raw power for Star and Stripe's Keraunos approach. Abroad, a boy points at the screen and asks his grandmother to name the frail figure in powered armor, then asks what a win or a loss would mean; she does not follow heroes, and the fight is happening far from them, so she has no answer either way. He goes on staring at the battered image with his hands clenched together. The cannon detonates, and All For One crawls out younger and glowing, backhands All Might with a ballooned arm, and prepares a shoulder full of spikes, only to seize up as Stain drifts overhead on a glider, having licked a smear of the villain's blood from broken concrete to arm Bloodcurdle. As the fight enters a new phase, Invisible Girl turns almost fully opaque, her Quirk destabilized by Navel Laser awakening under mortal stress, and Can't Stop Twinkling wants her sighting help again, this time to burn Kunieda's plants out at the roots before they finish draining their victims. Asked about his stomach, he only smiles up at the storm and declares this his last day as a U.A. student.

Warp Refraction: Navel Laser debuts as Invisible Girl reflects Can't Stop Twinkling's uncontrolled beams into Kunieda, concluding the Troy team's fight and awakening Navel Laser in the process.

All Might builds and fires "Can't Stop Twinkling", a power-station-fed laser cannon assembled by the "Anima" drones, destroying the machine but accelerating All For One's regression.

Stain joins the battle, using Bloodcurdle on All For One's spilled blood to paralyze him and give the crippled All Might an opening.

The first episode of season eight adapts chapter 377's prologue plus chapters 399 and 400, airing in Japan on October 4, 2025, and in English on October 18. THE REVO serves as the opening.

The prologue is repurposed: the failed grab at a floating petal is clarified as All Might's hand, followed by an adult Izuku catching the same petal. The duel is extended throughout, adding All Might spotting a Hercules camera to foreshadow the cannon, icing his enemy's skull from within via "Shoto" to stall him, showing "Invisible Girl" bouncing the beam away, cutting the manga's Rivet Stab and eye-Quirk combination down to Rivet Stab alone, staging "Creati" as a swelling morph into "Grape Juice", and inserting an Air Cannon feint plus an Accelerator Rings and Hypertrophy rush after the crater.

No episode since the front half of season two had limited its eyecatchers to the bare series logo, and none before had withheld the opening theme from its usual slot after the cold open, running those credits mid-episode and saving the song for the end. Its title comes from chapter 398, a chapter it does not adapt, the second such case after Episode 41.
