Episode 169

While Japan celebrates and rebuilds, the villains who switched sides collect their rewards. Gentle and La Brava are pardoned for their part in the Final War and reunite in tears at a police station. Lady Nagant earns the same offer but declines to leave confinement, unwilling to risk being used again until she sees whether the era Izuku demonstrated actually takes root. Hawks, now Hero Public Safety Commission President, wanted her help and jokingly calls her a villain for living off taxpayers a while longer.

Television panels condemn Tomura unanimously, citing his appearance and the people he killed, and argue that empathizing with him risks inspiring an imitator. Against that backdrop, Izuku visits Spinner, whose body was midway through turning fully Nomu until doctors halted the process using their Nomu research. Spinner calls him a murderer. Izuku does not argue, and simply relays Tomura's last words, that he kept fighting to destroy right to the bitter end. Told the message was meant for him alone, Spinner cracks open. He describes the twisted horizon Tomura showed him in Deika City, the persecution he faced as a heteromorph, and the dream of belonging to something. His body swells as grief takes over, and Izuku waves the doctor off and lets a giant Spinner take hold of him.

Intercut with pundits calling Tomura a tantrum without cause, Spinner remembers a boy who liked the same video games he did and was his first friend. Izuku explains that Tomura wanted to be a hero to society's rejects and genuinely cared for the League, which is why the message went to Spinner alone. Blaming himself for never stepping forward in time, Spinner shrinks back to normal, then announces he will write a book about the League so nobody forgets. Izuku hopes it is a comic and promises to remember them, and Spinner sends a message to Tentacole: never give up.

In the waiting room, Naomasa updates Izuku on the deal offered to Kai Chisaki, who may see his old Boss only if he apologizes to Eri. The Boss, awake from his coma and no longer a Yakuza leader with the Shie Hassaikai defunct, refuses his protégé's tearful apology and tells him to spend his remaining life apologizing to the granddaughter he tormented.

Back at U.A., Katsuki and Shoto are mobbed by first-year fans until Tenya shuts it down and turns his reprimand into a lecture. One boy thanks Izuku for the fight against All For One, which only tightens Izuku's grip on his blazer after the meeting with Spinner. Eraser Head, meanwhile, rejects every interview request aimed at Class 2-A on the grounds that some students would hate it.

Class 2-A joins reconstruction work under Fat Gum and Best Jeanist, with Suneater now officially Fat Gum's sidekick and Edgeshot still a small clump of threads slowly regrowing hands. Locals feed the Heroes lunch, and one man insists he mentioned his ruined family land not to guilt them but to explain why civilians refuse to leave the work to Heroes alone. Cementoss then arrives unscheduled with his first years, who insisted on helping.

Ochaco slips away that night to the cliffside overlooking Makeshift Fortress: Troy. Trying to stay cheerful because she prefers everyone smiling, she buckles under guilt: Himiko gave her blood, stitched her up, and died so Ochaco could keep living, and the cameras died before capturing those minutes. Izuku finds her on a hunch, tells her she has always spent herself on others, and calls her his Hero. She sobs into his shoulder while he admits he carries identical thoughts about Tomura, and that a thorny path will not stop him from extending a hand. Class A arrives, learns One For All is gone, and Eraser Head watches quietly from a distance. Later, Neito celebrates his war statue and Yuga's farewell party begins with Eri singing to Kyoka's guitar. Elsewhere, a ragged boy cuts himself free of a wrecked house as purple smog leaks from his fingers.

The episode draws on the tail of Chapter 425, part of 426, Chapters 427 and 428, and most of 429, sitting squarely in the Epilogue arc.

Spinner's escort into the meeting room is extended, and his power-down is retimed: the manga shrinks him once Izuku explains Tomura's bond with the League, while the anime waits until he wonders whether he could have saved him. A scene from a Volume 42 extra is added afterward, with Spinner deciding to illustrate his book, accompanied by shots of Captain Hero comics.

Ectoplasm's cigarette is cut from the staff room discussion, the reconstruction montage runs longer, and narration about loosened dorm restrictions is dropped. The Terumoto residence windows are redesigned, and Koki's Darkness debuts as thick purple mist rather than the dark fluid of the manga, with the following episode showing the mist preceding the goo.
