Episode 19

Shoto Todoroki steers Izuku toward the Student and Faculty Entrance without explanation and ignores every attempt to get lunch. When he finally speaks, it is to say the power Izuku showed in the Cavalry Battle felt identical to All Might's, and then to ask whether Izuku is the man's secret love child. The denial lands, but Shoto still concludes some hidden link exists, and being Endeavor's son gives him one more reason to win.

On a staircase nearby, the top two Pro Heroes cross paths. Endeavor tries to walk past; All Might follows, compliments Shoto's showing, and fishes for advice on raising the next generation. Endeavor offers nothing except the promise that his son will one day take the top spot from him.

Shoto lays it out. Endeavor could never beat All Might himself and has never stopped trying, so he bought into Rei Todoroki's family for a Quirk marriage engineered to produce a superior child. Shoto is that product, built to unseat All Might, and nearly every memory he has of his mother involves her crying. She called his left side unbearable, then scalded his face with boiling water. The whole reason he picked this fight is to prove to his father that he can take the Festival without touching his fire. Izuku stops him on the way out to say that whatever the motive behind it, he intends to win anyway. Katsuki listens from a distance.

After lunch, Present Mic announces recreational side games. Class 1-A's girls turn up in cheerleader outfits, having been conned into them by Denki and Minoru, to Momo's dismay. Midnight then has the finalists draw lots to seed a one-on-one tournament, a format that varies yearly but always ends in single combat.

Mashirao withdraws before the draw, unwilling to advance without understanding how Hitoshi Shinso puppeted him through the Cavalry Battle. Nirengeki Shoda pulls out for similar reasons. Midnight fills the openings from the fifth place squad, but Itsuka Kendo hands the slots to Team Tetsutetsu on the grounds that they fought harder.

The first bracket pairs Izuku with Hitoshi, Shoto with Hanta, Ibara with Denki, Tenya with Mei, Mina with Yuga, Fumikage with Momo, Eijiro with Tetsutetsu, and Katsuki with Ochaco, whose name he does not recognize. Once Cementoss builds the arena, All Might finds Izuku before his match and pushes back on the idea that support and luck carried him this far. Izuku takes the stage inspired, then Hitoshi baits him about Mashirao, gets a reply, and locks Brainwashing on, leaving him standing motionless while the crowd watches in horror.

Chapters 31 and 32 supply the material, and the episode opens the fight between Izuku Midoriya and Hitoshi Shinso inside the U.A. Sports Festival arc.

The adaptation is largely additive. The final event is visualized in more detail, fresh scenes accompany the lunch announcement, the matchup reveal gains extra moments, and the recreational games get considerably more screen time. Minoru and Denki's cheerleader con, reduced in print to a brief one-sided flashback, is spelled out here.

The next-episode preview contains an error, with Mashirao placing Hitoshi in Class B when he actually belongs to Class C.
