Izuku Midoriya's first impression of Sorahiko Torino is a man face down beside a spilled plate of sausages and ketchup, pretending to be a corpse. The act continues: the old man asks his guest's name over and over and loses it immediately each time. Doubting his mentor is sound enough to teach anyone, Izuku tries to phone All Might, only to notice Gran Torino rummaging through his brand new costume. The vacant expression drops for an instant, long enough for a demand: land a Smash on him, powered by One For All. Then the fog rolls back in. When Izuku moves to excuse himself, he is not allowed to leave. Gran Torino bounces around the apartment at absurd speed and repeats the challenge.

The old man's verdict is blunt. Izuku threw his power around carelessly at the Sports Festival, and his teacher has done a poor job of it. Izuku puts the pieces together, recognizes the performance for what it is, and sees the resemblance to his own idol clearly enough to believe this really is the man who taught him. The bout that follows is one-sided. Gran Torino keeps striking from behind, and although Izuku eventually reads the pattern and swings, the punch finds nothing and he ends up pinned to the floor. Worshipping All Might, his teacher says, is exactly what holds him back: he grasps the fundamentals but moves like someone imitating another person. Then Gran Torino wanders off to buy groceries, leaving him to think it over.

Alone with the advice, Izuku reaches the insight himself. One For All is not a switch to flip for special attacks; it needs to be treated as part of his own body. Gran Torino listens from the other side of the door and quietly considers what his student might become.

In Hosu City, Tenya Ida has signed on with the Normal Hero: Manual, and while they walk their patrol his thoughts stay fixed on hunting the Hero Killer. Elsewhere, Stain sits down with Tomura Shigaraki and Kurogiri about joining them, probing for conviction and finding only a desire to wreck whatever Tomura dislikes. Kurogiri wants to intervene, but their master tells him to let the encounter run so his protégé learns something.

The rest of Class 1-A settles into placements. Katsuki Bakugo reports to Best Jeanist, who admits he dislikes the boy's temperament while conceding his talent, restrains him with his Quirk when he steps too close, and promises to turn him into a model professional. Eijiro Kirishima and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu discover they both picked Fourth Kind. Ochaco Uraraka studies under Gunhead, Momo Yaoyorozu joins Itsuka Kendo at Uwabami's office, Kyoka Jiro works with Death Arms, Minoru Mineta is put to use by Mt. Lady, Tsuyu Asui turns up with the Navy, and Shoto Todoroki reports to his father, who immediately takes him out into the city.

That night Izuku slips into an alley to practice while his mentor sleeps, failing to scale the walls again and again until dawn finds him exhausted. Gran Torino explains the difference in their training: All Might could wield the power from day one and only needed combat drills, which is why Izuku is being taught another way entirely. It also startles him that his student has never heard a word about the seventh holder. A replacement microwave arrives to cover the one they destroyed, and when Izuku heats the food without letting it rotate, the scolding that follows finally lands. Like the pastries, he needs the energy moving evenly through every part of him at once. Gran Torino watches him spread One For All across his whole body in a steady flow, impressed at how fast the metaphor took, then challenges him to a rematch against the newly born Full Cowl.

The fourteenth entry of the second season draws on the end of chapter 46, most of chapter 47, and chapter 48, and it introduces both Full Cowl and Gran Torino's Jet Quirk. Singin' to the Sky takes over as the opening theme, with 'Cause You're My Hero. closing it out.

The broadcast reveals several internship placements that the manga either skipped or held back, showing Kyoka with Death Arms, and moving Minoru with Mt. Lady, Tsuyu at her posting, and Shoto at his father's agency earlier than they appeared in print. Best Jeanist demonstrates his Quirk sooner as well, and the scenes of students meeting their mentors run slightly longer throughout.
