Episode 28

Gran Torino sets the terms: if Izuku Midoriya can actually move while One For All runs through him, he is operating on a different level than he was at the Sports Festival. Three minutes to land a single Smash. The old man immediately kills the flow of power by hitting him from angles he cannot track, and Izuku is forced to duck under a table just to get Full Cowl running again. When his mentor lunges for the couch, Izuku hurls it at him and buys the seconds he needs. He leaps, nearly connects, then finds Gran Torino already behind him. His new mobility lets him vault clear and swing again, but the dodge comes easily and a headbutt puts him into the wall.

Time expires and Izuku despairs at how briefly he can hold the state. His teacher points out he has already outpaced yesterday's showing, and privately notes that the boy grazed his cheek and made him dodge in earnest, which may mean something remarkable is coming. Breakfast, unfortunately, is now on the floor, so Izuku is sent out for more.

Across the country his classmates work their placements. Ochaco Uraraka builds her body under Gunhead. Fourth Kind takes Eijiro Kirishima and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu apart over lukewarm coffee. Katsuki Bakugo regrets everything while Best Jeanist combs his hair and lectures him on looking like an elegant professional. Momo Yaoyorozu and Itsuka Kendo trail Uwabami through another round of side jobs, still hunting for the lesson buried in it.

At U.A., Detective Tsukauchi brings All Might what the police have pieced together about Nomu. The creature was once a low-level thug, rebuilt to carry several Quirks at once, its brain throttled so far by the process that independent thought is gone. Even with multiple donors' DNA in it, Naomasa argues, the Quirks should not stack, which leaves only one explanation: somebody out there can hand powers to other people. All Might shifts into his hero form and voices the fear he has been avoiding, that he has returned.

At the hideout, Stain has already put Tomura Shigaraki and Kurogiri on the floor, dismissing the League as directionless weaklings with nothing to believe in. Frozen by the Hero Killer's Quirk, Tomura cannot order Kurogiri to remove him, and as the blade drifts toward the hand covering his face his temper breaks. He seizes the knife, crumbles it, and declares that a world worshipping All Might can watch him destroy the symbol first and everything else afterward. Stain springs back, satisfied that they at least share a hunger to tear down the present, and decides to let those twisted convictions mature. Tomura refuses him a place in the League even as Kurogiri begs for reconsideration, and Stain simply asks to be sent back to Hosu so he can finish purging its counterfeit heroes.

In Hosu, Tenya Ida works out the pattern: four heroes fall in every city Stain visits, and only Tensei has been taken here, so the killer must return. He intends to be the one waiting. Gran Torino, wary of Izuku picking up bad habits from sparring in a living room, decides to take him hunting real criminals in Tokyo, and Izuku realizes the train will pass through Hosu on the way. On patrol, Manual sees straight through his intern and warns him that a professional must never turn a Quirk toward personal desire; Tenya agrees aloud while the resentment keeps burning. Tomura and Kurogiri follow Stain into the city, and rather than cooperate with him, Tomura looses three fresh Nomu on Hosu with orders to kill him.

Izuku texts Tenya from the train and gets no answer. A passenger reports an explosion, and then a Nomu tears its way inside, having already dropped the professional who tried to stop it. Gran Torino drives the creature out through the wall and into the streets below, leaving Izuku shouting after him as fires bloom across the skyline. Manual and Tenya rush toward the chaos, but Tenya spots the Hero Killer down an alley and breaks away. He arrives as Stain moves to finish the pro hero Native, saving him by drawing the attention onto himself. His kick meets a katana, his helmet comes off, and Stain tells him to leave before he becomes a target too. Tenya answers that this is the man who crippled his brother, and that he will bring him down in Ingenium's place as the name's successor. Stain reads the vengeance in his face and tells him to get ready to die.

The fifteenth entry of the second season pulls from the opening pages of chapter 47, chapters 49 and 50, and a single page of chapter 57. It debuts Stain's Bloodcurdle and opens both the Hosu Incident and the students' confrontation with the Hero Killer, scored between Singin' to the Sky and 'Cause You're My Hero.

The broadcast expands the internship material with extra scenes and moves Best Jeanist's grooming of Katsuki ahead of its position in print. The third-day sparring match between Izuku and Gran Torino is shown rather than referenced, and the sequence of Gran Torino wrestling the Nomu out of the bullet train runs slightly longer.
