Episode 33

The week of workplace training ends and Izuku Midoriya says goodbye to Sorahiko Torino, thanking him for the control he now has over his power. The old man reminds him to stay inside his five percent ceiling and to remember how much he still does not know. Before leaving, Izuku asks why a man this strong, the one who trained the number one hero, never became famous. Gran Torino explains he never wanted the job and only got certified because a moment in his past demanded that he be free to use it, then defers the rest to All Might. As Izuku walks off, the vacant act returns and the old man asks his name. It takes a moment before Izuku understands what is really being asked and answers with Deku. Satisfied, Gran Torino waves him away.

Class 1-A reconvenes at U.A. and trades stories. Eijiro Kirishima and Hanta Sero cannot stop laughing at Katsuki Bakugo's new hairstyle. Mina Ashido praises Tsuyu Asui and Kyoka Jiro for facing real criminals. Ochaco Uraraka reports a productive week and demonstrates her fighting stance, which Denki Kaminari finds alarming, while Minoru Mineta announces that his time with Mt. Lady taught him all women are evil. Denki points out that Izuku, Shoto Todoroki, and Tenya Ida clearly went through the most, and when the class swarms them, Shoto claims Endeavor rescued them from the Hero Killer rather than telling the truth.

Mashirao Ojiro admits he dreads to think what Stain turning up at the U.S.J. would have meant. Denki calls the man kind of cool for his conviction. Izuku snaps at him and gets an apology. Tenya concedes the appeal exists, then condemns the killing done to serve one person's ends. Steadied and back on the path he chose, he reverts to form and bellows at everyone to sit down. The class finds it insufferable; Izuku finds it heartening.

Hero Basic Training turns out to be a rescue race through Field Gamma, a dense metal maze of steel factories. All Might splits the class into five groups of four and sends them one at a time toward a distress signal he has planted inside. Izuku's group draws him alongside Tenya, Mina, Hanta, and Mashirao, and his classmates write him off immediately over his mobility and the cost his Quirk charges him. Hanta leads out of the gate and is passed almost at once. Running Full Cowl at five percent, Izuku bounds between surfaces and leaves the field behind while All Might and the students watch in disbelief. Shoto and Ochaco notice how much his movement now resembles Katsuki's, which infuriates Katsuki, who realizes his rival was getting stronger while he wasted the week having his hair combed. Concentrating on holding the percentage, Izuku's footing gives out and he goes down; Hanta takes the race while Izuku finishes last and injured. All Might praises the group's growth, reminds them what the end of term test will demand, then quietly congratulates his student, gives him a thumbs up, and tells him to come find him afterward for a conversation about One For All.

In the locker room, Minoru announces he has discovered a hole in the wall and, ignoring Tenya's objections, puts his eye to it, where Kyoka's earphone plug is waiting. The girls thank her for the interception, though Kyoka notes glumly that she was the only one Minoru left out of his enthusiastic rundown.

All Might opens the promised talk by apologizing for being absent during the Hosu incident, and Izuku waves it off in favor of the explanation. First, the reassurance: Stain got hold of his blood, but One For All cannot be taken by force. It can only be given, though it can be forced onto someone. Then the origin. Back when Quirks were brand new and no society had adapted to them, the world fell into upheaval, and out of that chaos rose someone able to take other people's powers, who then seized control of Japan. He could also hand powers out, frequently leaving recipients catatonic when their bodies could not cope, much like the Nomu. Both the man and his ability carry the name All For One.

He gave a Quirk to his Quirkless younger brother, who resented his crimes without pause. The brother was not actually Quirkless: he carried a dormant power that passed abilities to other people, and combined with the stockpiling Quirk forced on him, One For All was born. All Might remarks on the irony of justice emerging from the guts of evil. Asked why a villain from that long ago matters now, he explains that the man is believed to have stolen immortality, that his brother never managed to kill him, and that the power was handed down through generations until it reached All Might, who finally won. He believes the man now leads the League of Villains, and that Izuku will face him one day. Izuku vows to give it everything, certain he can manage anything with All Might beside him, and All Might cannot make himself say that he will not be there, so he says thank you instead.

The following morning, Shota Aizawa announces a forest lodge over summer break, with the warning that anyone who fails the end of term test spends it in remedial classes. Elsewhere, a man expresses surprise at Stain's capture but satisfaction that events are unfolding as he expected, assigning Tomura the role of supervising and unifying the villains now drifting toward the League. His doctor doubts Tomura is up to it and suggests things would move faster with his own involvement; the man tells him to hurry up with the repairs. He is Tomura's sensei, the holder of All For One, and he intends to let the boy do the difficult work and grow into the successor he was made to be. He advises All Might to enjoy this fleeting peace while it lasts.

The twentieth entry of the second season adapts chapters 58 and 59, closing the Vs. Hero Killer storyline. It gives All For One his first on-screen appearance alongside Kyudai Garaki, introduces the first holder of One For All in flashback, and names both Quirk Bestowal and Power Stock as the abilities that combined into One For All. Singin' to the Sky and 'Cause You're My Hero. remain in place.

Class 1-A's reactions to Izuku's performance in the race are shown rather than merely described. All Might's private admission that he will not be standing beside his student for that confrontation is relocated to after the boy leaves the conference room, instead of occurring during their conversation. The announcement of the forest lodge finds the class in summer uniforms here and spring attire in print.
