Summary

All For One lifts the entire League clear of the hideout. Kamui Woods blames himself for the escape, though Edgeshot points out the warping targeted individuals and nothing could have stopped it. All Might sweeps the remaining Nomu out of the building with Oklahoma Smash while Endeavor burns the ones outside, then waves him on after the League.

The masked man compliments Best Jeanist for shielding the other pros while saving himself, and when the hero recognizes him as the League's true head and attacks, a blast of compressed air puts him down. Judging that the pro's strength comes from craft rather than the Quirk itself, All For One declines to take it. Izuku, Shoto, Momo and Tenya press themselves against a wall in terror; Tenya stops Izuku from moving, and before they are noticed All Might arrives.

Katsuki, watching, reads the villain as the strongest alive. All Might promises to lock his rival away for good and charges, and a combination attack throws him back. All For One orders Tomura to take the boy and run, then forces Kurogiri's unconscious body to open a gate. Katsuki keeps the villains at bay with explosions while All Might, unable to break through and unwilling to risk shockwaves near his student, fights at half strength. Katsuki knows exactly why.

Izuku sees the way out: not fighting the villains, but removing the reason All Might is restrained. He and Tenya grab Eijiro Kirishima, drive him through the wall with Hardening, and ride Shoto's ice ramp skyward. All For One moves to interfere and All Might stops him. From distance, Eijiro calls out, because Izuku knows Katsuki listens to no one else. A massive explosion launches Katsuki into his friend's hand. Magne tries to hurl Mr. Compress after them and Mt. Lady's Titan Cliff blocks the path; a second attempt ends when Gran Torino flattens the group. He compares Izuku's judgment to Toshinori's own.

With the hostage clear, All Might declares he is done restraining himself. All For One magnetizes the male villains to Himiko and shoves the whole cluster through the gate, staying behind alone. He warps Gran Torino into the path of an attack, and All Might catches the old man before countering with Detroit Smash. Taunted that bystanders still keep him in check, All Might answers that the contempt for ordinary people ends here and crushes the helmet with one strike. The villain survives, All Might's frame begins slipping toward its true shape, and All For One remarks how closely the declaration echoes Nana Shimura.

Izuku, Tenya, Eijiro and Shoto execute the rescue that pulls Katsuki out of the battlefield, and Gran Torino, Mt. Lady and the pros mop up the pursuit. Freed from protecting his student, All Might drops his restraint and shatters All For One's mask, though the villain endures it and invokes Nana Shimura as All Might's body starts to fail.

Notes

Episode forty-eight, the tenth of season three, within the Hideout Raid arc. It aired 9 June 2018 in Japan and 4 May 2019 in the United States, adapting chapters 89 through 91, with Odd Future and Update as themes.

Best Jeanist's stomach wound reads more clearly on screen than on the page, several beats of Izuku working out his plan run longer, and a new scene has All For One taunting All Might for pulling his punches near Katsuki.

A dub note: the simuldub of Present Mic's Magnetism breakdown mistakenly called Magne male. The home video release reworked the line to avoid pronouns altogether, matching the original Japanese, both to remove the inconsistency and because the Japanese version left Magne's gender unaddressed until the Shie Hassaikai arc.
