The expulsion threat turns out to be theater, and Izuku survives his first day at U.A. with friends he did not expect. Then the costumes come out, the lots are drawn, and the one matchup nobody wanted lands on the board: Izuku against Katsuki.
All Might savors the sight of One For All concentrated into a single fingertip, and Ochaco is impressed too. Katsuki is not. Baffled by abilities Izuku never had and convinced he has been deceived for years, he lunges and is stopped cold by Shota Aizawa's capture weapon.
Shota cautions the class against forcing him to overuse his Quirk, since it leaves his eyes dry, then posts the results. Izuku finishes last and braces for expulsion, only to learn the threat was a fabrication designed to squeeze maximum effort out of everyone. Class is dismissed and Izuku is sent to Recovery Girl for his finger.
All Might corners Shota afterward and calls him a liar, given that he once removed an entire class. Shota answers that Izuku still sits above the line, and that anyone who drops below it can be cut whenever he chooses. Recovery Girl mends the finger at the price of Izuku's stamina. Drained, he runs into Tenya and Ochaco on his way out and realizes he has made friends.
The following day proceeds normally until Hero Basic Training. All Might takes the class to combat drills, their first outing in the outfits they designed, and they assemble at Ground Beta, the same site used for the entrance exam's practical.
The rules split them into ten teams, half playing heroes and half villains. The villain side guards a nuclear device it intends to deploy; the hero side must stop them. Heroes win by capturing their opponents or reaching the core before time expires, villains by holding the weapon to the end or capturing the heroes.
Lots pair Team A, Izuku and Ochaco, against Team D, Katsuki and Tenya. The villains enter first and locate the dummy missile. Still stewing, Katsuki presses Tenya on where the Quirk came from and gets a question back about the source of all that hatred.
Five minutes later the heroes enter and Katsuki ambushes them almost immediately, shearing away half of Izuku's mask while Izuku pulls Ochaco clear. The second swing gets caught. Izuku throws the startled Katsuki to the floor, drawing cheers from the classmates watching with All Might. He explains that years of notes, kept in the very notebook Katsuki once burned, told him that every one of Katsuki's fights opens with a right hook. He tells his old tormentor that the helpless Deku is gone, and Katsuki responds with pure hatred.
Shota Aizawa admits the threat of expulsion was theater, though he retains the authority to expel anyone he judges to have fallen below his standard.
Recovery Girl mends Izuku's finger, spending his stamina to do it, and he recognizes Tenya and Ochaco as his first friends.
Class 1-A debuts the hero costumes they designed and begins the Battle Trial at Ground Beta.
Izuku counters Katsuki's opening right hook using years of accumulated notes, throwing him to the ground and declaring he is no longer the boy Katsuki bullied.
The episode adapts most of chapter 7 plus chapter 8, and straddles the end of the Quirk Apprehension Test Arc and the start of the Battle Trial Arc.
Ordering differs from the manga. The remainder of the apprehension test and its final standings are shown here rather than later, and Eraser Head presents the results before admitting nobody is being expelled. Hanta and Eijiro's commentary on the test is new, as is a staredown between Izuku and Katsuki after the class heads for the viewing room.
Other changes: the adaptation trims two students spotting All Might in the background after his talk with Eraser Head and a short scene about school clubs, but extends Izuku's recollection of the school day to include the class meeting Lunch Rush. Only Katsuki, Tenya, and Yuga's costume forms appear, where the manga also showed Minoru, Rikido, Ochaco, and Eijiro's. All Might's script explanation, drawn as stick-figure graphs on the page, becomes pixel art that flips between role-playing and arcade fighting styles, echoing how Present Mic explained the entrance exam. During the roll call, Ochaco and Izuku keep their headgear on here and had it off in the manga. Finally, All Might is shown reading Izuku's notebook under the bridge, whereas in the manga he had already left it behind by then.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Episode 6 reveals that Shota Aizawa's threat to expel the lowest scoring student was a bluff meant to push Class 1-A's effort, then moves into the Battle Trial arc as the class debuts its hero costumes, with Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka facing Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Iida at Ground Beta.
Episode 6 ends with Izuku Midoriya countering Katsuki Bakugo's signature opening right hook, using notes from a childhood notebook to throw him to the ground and declare that the helpless Deku that Katsuki once bullied is gone.
Shota Aizawa admits the expulsion threat from the Quirk Apprehension Test was theater designed to squeeze maximum effort out of every student, though he tells All Might he still retains the authority to expel anyone who falls below his standard later.
The Battle Trial splits Class 1-A into hero and villain teams at Ground Beta, where the villain side guards a mock nuclear weapon and the hero side must either capture their opponents or reach the weapon before time runs out.
Recovery Girl heals Izuku Midoriya's broken finger after the test, but the treatment draws on his own stamina and leaves him drained as he heads out, where he realizes Tenya Iida and Ochaco Uraraka have become his first real friends.
