Episode 62

Jin Bubaigawara smokes at the window of a cluttered hideout, commenting on the ordinary people below while a rival voice inside him disputes every observation. It is his routine: a cigarette and some people-watching.

A broadcast carries Daikaku Miyagi discussing where heroes fit in society now. Twice approves of the newscaster and the voice does not. The talk turns to the unease around All Might's successor: Endeavor is called rough, and his image suffers accordingly, a reading Miyagi shares. Twice stubs out the cigarette, dresses, and leaves with the argument still running. All Might's catchphrase steadied anyone with a normal life, and cursed everyone without one.

Passing a shop, Twice watches a villain burst through the glass hauling a countertop with the register still bolted on. The shopkeeper cries for help, an arriving hero is clubbed from behind, and four criminals announce themselves as Team Reservoir Dogs before driving off in a small truck.

Giran calls asking after Dabi, but Twice's personalities are fracturing badly enough that he cannot hold a conversation, and Giran hangs up after relaying that Tomura wants everyone assembled. The League has dispersed to shed police attention and recruit. Dabi finds a gang in an alley, judges them unworthy, and burns them alive, telling them trash may as well feed his fire.

Before he splits apart, Twice puts on his mask, which he says makes him one again, and lays out his history. His Quirk copies people; he once cloned himself an army of servants that turned on him. After nine days of fighting he was the only one left, and he cannot be certain he is the original. Heroes rescue good people, so he joined the League to belong, and he looks for others as broken as he is.

He then finds Team Reservoir Dogs dismembered and fused into their burning truck. Overhaul stands over the wreck with his men, disgusted that grown men would settle for robbing a shop when a group should want more. People like them, he says, are sick and require a cure. Both sides of the divide are shifting as new generations find their footing, and Twice repeats that knowing yourself is what matters.

At U.A., Izuku lifts weights in his room and finds the arm Muscular injured pain-free. Tenya lines the class up for the sports ground, where Neito Monoma needles them over Class 1-A's two failures against Class 1-B's perfect record. Shoto apologizes and Eijiro calls the rivalry manufactured. Pony Tsunotori mentions that Vlad King has scheduled joint classes, and Neito exploits her shaky Japanese to make her taunt 1-A. Hitoshi Shinso asks them to clear the way, and Hanta and Kyoka note how much he has bulked up since the Sports Festival.

Nezu addresses the student body, beginning with sleep and its effect on fur and hair before turning to the summer's disruptions and the rising threat of disorder. He stresses where U.A. students will stand in society and why internships matter for the hero course. All Might remembers Nezu raising both the search for a One For All successor and the offer of a teaching post. Vlad King introduces Hound Dog, who howls incoherently into the microphone, then closes by urging moderation with a pointed reference to a fight between two students the previous night.

In class, Shota tells everyone to become students again. Tsuyu asks about the internships and he obliges, describing them as hero work outside school, nearer the real thing than the agency internships that followed the Sports Festival. Ochaco objects that all that effort to get recruited seems wasted if internships were coming anyway, and Shota draws the distinction before handing the period to Present Mic.

At Heights Alliance, Hanta and Minoru bait Katsuki with dust on a windowsill and he takes it out on Izuku's cleaning. Serving house arrest, Izuku listens to accounts of a school day he missed and asks Tenya about the internships, only to be told the class was instructed to tell him and Katsuki nothing. Taking out the trash, he meets a face protruding from a wall that gives him directions, sinks away, then reappears in the ground. Asked what it is, the face admits it has not decided, promises Izuku will find out soon, and drops through the floor mid-sentence.

Three days on, Izuku submits his written apology and returns, apologizing furiously to the class and to Tenya and vowing to catch up, which Eijiro applauds. Shota arrives to go deeper on the internships and brings in three students with the experience to explain them: the hero course's top three, the Big 3.

Twice explains the origin of his fractured psyche: he cloned himself an army, it rebelled, and after more than a week of fighting he no longer knows whether he is the original.

Overhaul debuts, executing Team Reservoir Dogs and framing criminals as a sickness in need of a cure.

Nezu addresses the student body about the coming disorder and the importance of hero work studies.

Izuku encounters Mirio Togata's face phasing through a wall, and Shota introduces the Big 3 to Class 1-A.

The episode adapts part of chapter 115 plus the back of chapter 121 and all of chapter 122, and marks the transition out of the Provisional Hero License Exam Arc into the Shie Hassaikai Arc. The Overhaul and Permeation Quirks both make their first appearance.

Extra student reactions accompany Nezu's speech. Cut from the adaptation are the short words traded by Nezu and Vlad King as the principal steps down from the stage, All Might's internal narration while recalling Nezu's teaching offer, and the flashback of Eraser Head explaining the significance of the sports festival.
