Episode 73

Overhaul, Chronostasis, and Eri retreat at an unhurried pace as the young boss gripes about the racket filling his hideout. Chrono thinks the family is finished; Overhaul answers that it survives as long as he does, because the completed product will draw fresh investors and put the yakuza back on top. To secure that, he puts his borrowed help to work: Himiko Toga and Twice.

Red Riot wakes, and Fat Gum remembers the boy who first showed up at his agency wanting to be more than the energy guy, wanting to protect people. The memory is cut short when Kendo Rappa hauls himself upright on broken arms and asks that Eijiro be patched up so he can fight him again. Tengai tells him not to freelance and gets stomped underfoot for it. Rappa admits his arms are gone but says his MMA past left him wanting to fight until he dies, that the thrill of a brawl is what he lives on, that he enjoyed this, and that Eijiro was the best of it, before calling the whole thing a draw. Carrying his student off for treatment, Fat Gum points out that even the enemy has acknowledged him as a man.

Fat asks why a man like that stays with the yakuza and learns Overhaul beat him five separate times, which tells Fat Gum something about how far Overhaul can handle raw speed and power. Asked about the boss's goal, Kendo reveals, to Hekiji's alarm, that reinstating the yakuza is the aim and the plan is nearly complete.

Elsewhere, Sir Nighteye's group hits Mimic's twisting corridors again. Rock Lock deploys his Ultimate Move, Deadbolt, locking down the space around them so the walls cannot crush anyone, and Deku smashes the stone Irinaka keeps throwing with One For All. Realising the heroes have reinforcements, Mimic uses the walls to separate them: Deku with Eraser Head, Nighteye with the police, Rock Lock alone.

Himiko ambushes Rock Lock, distracts him with a duplicate, and puts a knife in him, announcing that she is a gangster now rather than League. The noise brings Eraser Head and Deku through the wall. She takes Rock Lock's shape, but Erasure strips the disguise before she can reach Izuku; she lunges anyway, is caught by Aizawa's scarf, then buries her knife in his back before Mimic opens an escape. Aizawa registers that the two organisations are cooperating, and Izuku realises she was his opponent at the Provisional Hero License Exam.

Days earlier, at the black communion, Overhaul had taught Tomura shogi as a lesson in using an opponent's captured pieces, then asked to borrow Himiko and Twice, or else Kurogiri. Tomura refused before the visitor appealed to trust between the factions. Back in the present, a copy of Rappa and Twice confront Nighteye and the police, and the clone is dismantled instantly by High Density Weights. Nighteye remarks on the League stooping to yakuza work; Twice, watching his double fall, rants that the yakuza are useless, takes a hit from the weights, and loses part of his mask. He escapes behind Mimic's wall, complaining about nearly being crushed, and with his mask torn he starts to split until Himiko wraps him up, cursing the yakuza herself.

The private version of the arrangement follows. Told they were being loaned out, both objected, Twice removing his mask to insist he is a person with feelings, sick over Magne's death and Compress's arm, and Himiko putting a knife to Tomura's throat to ask why she should do what she hates. Tomura bared his own face and said it was for his sake and theirs: he trusts them to infiltrate and gut the family from within, giving Twice the responsibility he wanted. Fired up, the pair act on their own terms, and Mimic, enraged, drags heroes and villains alike deeper down and tries to crush them all.

Kendo Rappa concedes a draw with Fat Gum and Red Riot, and discloses that Overhaul's plan to restore the yakuza is in its final stage.

Rock Lock debuts Deadbolt, then is stabbed by Himiko, who also wounds Eraser Head before escaping.

Flashbacks reveal Tomura loaned Toga and Twice to the Hassaikai as a shogi lesson in captured pieces, secretly ordering them to bring the family down from inside.

Fat Gum's flashback omits the exterior of his agency, while Kendo Rappa's flashback of meeting Overhaul is extended and shows him unmasked.

The brief dance shared by Himiko and Twice references one of the extra sketches from Volume 17.
