Episode 9

News that All Might now teaches at U.A. brings the press swarming the gates, and Eraser Head's attempt to disperse them ends with one reporter triggering the school's defensive barrier. Inside, Shota tells Class 1-A to pick a representative, a title valuable enough that nearly everyone nominates themselves. Tenya proposes a vote, and the outcome disappoints him: Izuku takes the position with Momo as his deputy.

Over lunch, Izuku frets about leading anyone, and Tenya admits he cast his own ballot for him based on the instincts he showed at the entrance exam. Ochaco reads Tenya's bearing correctly and asks about his family, and he reluctantly confesses to belonging to the Ida hero line, worried the knowledge will change how they treat him. The Turbo Hero known as Ingenium, a celebrated professional, is his older brother. The alarms cut the conversation short, and an upperclassman notes that the barrier has been beaten. The cafeteria empties into a crushing jam in the hallway, but Tenya spots that the intruders are only reporters. Borrowing Ochaco's Quirk to float, he vaults up to the exit signage above the doors and shouts the crowd calm. Back in class, a moved Izuku steps down and hands the role to him, and the vote agrees.

The faculty is less relieved. Most of the barrier has been disintegrated, which no ordinary journalist could manage, and the principal reads the act as an evil intent testing them, possibly a declaration of war. Across the city, Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods are pinned down by a hostage standoff until All Might drops in and ends it with a Missouri Smash, then detours through more rescues on his way to work. He notes that his speed has fallen since passing One For All along, and remembers forgiving Izuku for letting part of the secret slip to Katsuki while stressing that the truth has to stay buried for everyone's sake. Class 1-A then suits up for a rescue exercise, and on the bus they pick at each other's Quirks: Tsuyu likens Izuku's to All Might's, Eijiro wants something flashier, and the group agrees Katsuki's temper will cost him popularity, which Izuku quietly notes is a reversal of middle school. Thirteen welcomes them to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint with a speech about using power to save rather than fight, and a black portal opens as she finishes.

Izuku is elected class representative with Momo as deputy, then resigns in Tenya's favor after watching him take command of the panic.

Tenya reveals his connection to the Ida hero family and his brother Ingenium.

U.A.'s barrier is found to have been disintegrated rather than breached, and Nezu concludes someone with hostile intent opened the way for the press.

All Might notices his own decline since passing on One For All, and reminds Izuku the Quirk must stay secret.

Class 1-A arrives at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, where Kurogiri's warp gate delivers the villains and begins the U.S.J. Incident.

The ninth episode adapts Chapter 12 and the first seventeen pages of Chapter 13, closing out the setup for the U.S.J. arc. THE DAY opens it and HEROES ends it.

The press hounding the students is extended, with reactions to Tenya's and Katsuki's answers added, and Toru picks up a ballot in the vote that the manga never gives her.

The Habit Headgear scene is trimmed: no rap sheet recital from Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods, no comedic sidestep gag, and the villain's rude gesture is replaced with a threatening hand over the hostages. All Might drops from the sky into the Missouri Smash rather than charging from behind, helps more civilians afterward, and does not stop to hear the two pros joke about losing their jobs to him.
