Summary

Round two swings hard against Class 1-A when Kinoko Komori floods Ground Gamma with fungus, then works spray bottles to thicken the air and speed the growth along. Momo Yaoyorozu and Toru Hagakure pull sprouts off their skin only to watch fresh ones replace them, and the caps clinging to Toru trace her outline, stripping away the edge her invisibility normally gives her. High above, Fumikage Tokoyami and Yuga Aoyama lose track of Shihai Kuroiro somewhere in the spreading carpet. Watching from the stands, Minoru Mineta likens the sight to a horror film, while Yosetsu Awase explains that the caps fade on their own after roughly two or three hours, which is exactly why Kinoko never bothers holding back.

Shihai has actually tucked himself into a black mushroom nearby, amused and unseen. Itsuka Kendo built her opening gambit around him because Dark Shadow offered a cheap gamble with a rich payoff, and because 1-A had no idea he could now slip into dark objects at all. Yuga's Navel Laser answered that neatly, so the backup scheme built on Kinoko took its place. Deeper in the pipes, Manga Fukidashi starts shouting effects, and a solid slab of onomatopoeia plows through the arena, breaking the opposing squad apart. Momo, quietly impressed by how far ahead her rival had thought, tells everyone to steady themselves and regroup.

Itsuka takes her chance and rushes Momo, cracking a tungsten shield with one enlarged fist and pressing forward so the Creation user never gets a breath to strategize or spare her lipids. Shoto Todoroki, watching, doubts the wisdom of cornering Momo instead of ending her quickly. Momo replies by growing a cannon out of her abdomen. She feints her aim, and at the exact moment Double Jumbo Fist connects, her shot sails over Manga's wall. Yaoyorozu's Lucky Bag drops out of the sky, and Fumikage snatches it with Dark Shadow while carrying Toru.

Inside sit infrared goggles and several cans of ethanol, an antifungal agent. Toru scrubs herself clean, corners Manga, and realizes mid-assault that 1-B had coated themselves with fungicide before the match. Fumikage tracks down Kinoko and Shihai through the goggles and traps both with a new move, Black Abyss: Sabbath, only for Kinoko to grow a split gill cap inside his lungs and choke him. Slumped against her cannon and fading fast, Momo sprouts ropes that catch Itsuka, though Itsuka has already pinned Toru. Class 1-B finishes the round 4-0. Itsuka confesses the victory never felt like one, and Shoto hopes Momo will not let the defeat wound her the way the Sports Festival once did. Izuku Midoriya and All Might praise their side's growth regardless, and Vlad King announces the result to his rival class's obvious irritation.

Notes

The episode adapts Chapter 200 and Chapter 201, opening on No.1 and closing on Footprints. It belongs to the Joint Training arc and marks the conclusion of the round two bout.

Several adaptation changes appear. Extra spectator commentary is inserted throughout, and a flashback to Shoto and Momo's final exam plays while Shoto analyzes the match.

The manga leaves Toru bound outside the holding cell, whereas the anime places her within it.
