Vlad King questions letting the match run after Izuku's outburst, but Eraser Head points out that Hitoshi's Brainwashing stopped it and that his own Erasure could do the same, adding that every student on the field still wants to win. Vlad King remarks that he is kinder than his face suggests, and Shota grudgingly accepts the read.

Hitoshi yanks his Capturing Weapon and knocks Izuku off the platform, surprising Ochaco with his strength. Izuku explains he is holding One For All back rather than endanger anyone again, and refuses her suggestion to withdraw since Hitoshi is right in front of them. When she asks whether he intends to fight without a Quirk at all, he turns and requests a favor instead. Elsewhere Mina trades Acid Shots with 1-B until Nirengeki fires Twin Impact at her, and Minoru's Grape Buckler bounces off the Pop Off balls he had seeded across the arena to deflect it, then contrives to land against Mina's chest. Fed up, she uses Acid Layback to launch him into their Grape-Pinky Combo, flinging him across the field and locking the opposing team in place.

Neito appears before Izuku and Ochaco, reflecting that a body limited to Copy does not shame him, since supporting characters can outshine protagonists. His body begins to glow and Izuku, recalling All Might's warning that an unready body would burst under the power, screams at him to stop. Ochaco floors Neito with Gunhead Martial Arts and tells Izuku it was a bluff, which irritates Neito, who calls the copy a blank. Hitoshi tries to retrieve him, and Izuku, weightless via Ochaco's Zero Gravity, floats up to meet him. Eraser Head recalls training Hitoshi, who once doubted he could master a weapon that took his teacher six years, and being told that six years of solitary practice simply meant he needed to practice, because for people like them it is life or death.

Hitoshi hauls pipes down at Izuku, who, steadied by how much the fifth user's presence reminded him of All Might, calms himself and calls Blackwhip out under control, catching both pipes. Eraser Head and Vlad King move to intervene until All Might notes the difference and wonders what changed. Hitoshi accuses him of faking the earlier loss of control, and then Izuku's body seizes and Blackwhip vanishes: at twenty percent capacity he cannot hold a power One For All has grown so much. He drops to a plain eight percent rather than risk Air Force and chases Hitoshi down. Ochaco drags Neito to the cell, privately clocking five minutes; he mentions extending his window to ten, invites her to guess his Quirk capacity, and reveals the answer is four rather than the three she counted from his clocks, noting that lingering aftereffects like Yui's Size persist even though he uses one at a time.

Remembering Izuku's favor, Ochaco trusts him to Hitoshi and goes to help her classmates. Neito plays his last card, using Twin Impact so a graze from earlier doubles a punch to Izuku's face, and apologizes to Hitoshi for being captured first. Ochaco arrives to chop Reiko unconscious and shoves Yui into a pipe studded with Pop Off balls, while Mina frees Minoru by flattening Nirengeki. Izuku recovers, grabs the Capturing Weapon, and rides it straight down onto Hitoshi. Beaten, Hitoshi reflects on wanting to show Izuku another side of himself and on how hard the hero students genuinely work.

Midnight takes over commentary and declares Class 1-A the 4-0 victors of the match and the overall winners of the exercise. Hitoshi tells Eraser Head he was not strong enough, understanding the bout was his entrance exam. During the critique Izuku admits he does not fully understand what happened, only that he overflowed with power, was frightened, and was saved by Ochaco and Hitoshi. Midnight praises Ochaco's instant reaction, Mina teases her about how tightly she held on, and Ochaco says she moved without thinking because regret would have been worse; Eraser Head compliments her growth. Hitoshi insists he acted for himself, and Eraser Head squeezes him with the Capturing Weapon, telling him nobody reaches greatness immediately and that everything he did earns a passing grade. Hitoshi answers that passing is not enough, and his teacher tells him to go Plus Ultra.

Eraser Head permits the match to continue, confident he can suppress Izuku if needed. Izuku fights Hitoshi while suppressing One For All, then asks Ochaco to leave the duel to him.

Ochaco exposes Neito's One For All copy as a blank and captures him. Izuku briefly wields Blackwhip under conscious control before his twenty percent capacity fails him, forcing him down to eight percent.

Class 1-A wins the round 4-0 and the Joint Training Battle overall. Eraser Head grades Hitoshi's performance as a pass on what amounted to his entrance exam, and Hitoshi vows to aim higher.

Several changes appear. The manga puts Shota's mastery of the Capturing Weapon at five years, while the anime raises the figure to six. Ochaco's musing about the duration of Copy is internal here but spoken aloud in the manga, and her recollection of Izuku's favor moves from after she defeats Yui and Reiko to just after she jails Neito, with an added flashback of the request itself.

The anime drops Hiryu and Jurota's remarks about Hitoshi rejoining his team, the classmates chiding Shota for yanking Hitoshi with the Capturing Weapon, and Shota's high school flashback featuring Oboro Shirakumo and Hizashi Yamada. It reassigns the admission of not being competitive from Manga to Kosei, and adds lines in which Hitoshi resolves to push himself further toward becoming an outstanding hero.
