Chapter 108

Rewinding slightly, Yo Shindo takes stock after his quake broke Class 1-A apart. Half his own class is hunting them, other schools have joined in, and the resulting scramble is getting ugly. Tatami Nakagame calls the scattering plan a backfire, but Yo is content: the endgame is running, rivals are burning energy on U.A., and his classmates understand the stakes. She needles him about the wholesome act he puts on, which he accepts as praise, and he sneers at examinees grasping at dreams while placing himself above such childishness.

Returning to the current moment, Katsuki Bakugo pushes the tally to eighty-two alongside Eijiro Kirishima and Denki Kaminari. Denki spots Izuku Midoriya's group and congratulates them. Katsuki asks whether Izuku passed, hears that he did, and walks off unsurprised given that power of his, then asks whether the borrowed strength has been made his own yet, leaving Izuku stunned. The Kamino Incident hangs awkwardly between them.

Momo Yaoyorozu, waiting inside, is relieved by both groups, Tsuyu Asui explains who removes their targets, and Shoto Todoroki counts eleven through with nine to go. Eighteen slots remain, and Momo worries about Tenya Ida.

Tenya and Yuga Aoyama are indeed buried in opponents. Tenya pulls him from a stray shot and refuses to let him quit. He had sought Yuga out to gather classmates, and when Yuga was content to let the others advance without him, Tenya insisted that a class president supports everyone. Eight more pass, dropping the remainder to ten. Emi Fukukado spots her own students filing in, delighted, while Momo and Kyoka Jiro fear for the rest of 1-A.

Down two targets already, Yuga fires his Navel Laser skyward and offers himself as a decoy so Tenya can tag two distracted examinees, confessing that his dream is simply to stand equal with everyone. Then Koji Koda floods the area with doves. Screened by the birds, Fumikage Tokoyami strikes two examinees down with Black Ankh: Gloom of the Black Arm. Minoru Mineta's Pop Off traps others for Mashirao Ojiro to knock into the sticky ground. As the field turns to counterattack, Toru Hagakure floods everything with light from her body, and under that glare Mashirao and Toru each tag two. Mina Ashido tells a bewildered Yuga that his laser is what guided them back. She passes, the others follow one after another, and Tenya scolds Yuga for underselling himself before both secure their targets.

With that, one hundred have cleared. Yokumiru Mera ends the first exam and clears out the rest. The waiting room erupts as all of Class 1-A celebrates. Inasa Yoarashi is stunned that Seiji Shishikura failed, and Nagamasa Mora blames his conceit while asking him to lower his voice. Camie Utsushimi has also advanced. Mera then directs the hundred to a screen: the entire battlefield collapses, every building falling until the arena becomes a wreck. That ruin, he tells them, is the final stage, where they will perform rescue maneuvers.

The Ketsubutsu Academy students continue their strategy and pass soon afterward.

Katsuki, Eijiro, and Denki reach the waiting room, and Katsuki presses Izuku about his borrowed power.

Yuga makes himself bait so Tenya and the rest of the class can regroup, resulting in all of Class 1-A scraping through the first round.

The battlefield is demolished into a disaster site, and the second exam begins as a rescue operation for the surviving hundred examinees.

Nineteen pages long, the chapter ran in issue 43 of 2016 on September 26, 2016, closing out volume 12 material in the Provisional Hero License Exam arc, with Yo Shindo, Shikkui Makabe, and Tatami Nakagame on the cover.

Episode 56 adapts it. Hitchcock Birds, Covert Black-Ops Arms, and Warp Refraction all debut, and the Help Us Company appears again ahead of the second round.
