Chapter 139

Sir Nighteye and Fat Gum's units storm the Shie Hassaikai compound. Rock Lock cannot shake the sense that something is off, while Shota Aizawa reasons that Overhaul's absence means he is already below, clearing out everything he wants hidden, Eri among it. The heroes come upon a shrine, and Nighteye lifts the vase from it and presses a wooden panel, opening a concealed door.

Yakuza appear and ready themselves, but Shota's Erasure switches them off while Bubble Girl and Centipeder take them into custody. The pair stay behind to keep processing them as everyone else presses on. Descending toward the basement, the group hits a blank wall. Mirio Togata slips through it with Permeation, his costume woven from fibers of his own hair so it phases alongside him, as Tamaki explains. On the other side, Mirio finds the passage running on exactly as Nighteye described.

Returning, Mirio reports the barrier was thrown up to stall them, and Rock Lock suspects Chisaki's Quirk built it. Izuku Midoriya lights up Full Cowl, Eijiro Kirishima hardens, and together they blow the obstruction apart. Beyond it the corridor itself twists and warps. Fat Gum recognizes Mimic's Mimicry, which lets him inhabit an object and puppet it freely, though the notion of one man wearing an entire basement staggers him. Asked to cancel it, Shota cannot, since Mimic's body is nowhere in sight.

Tamaki works out that Chisaki is buying seconds to bury the evidence and slip away, and the thought that lives ride on the delay begins to crush him. Mirio steadies his friend with a promise that Eri will be rescued, then phases forward alone. Tamaki turns on himself for folding under pressure. Mimic, unable to stop that Quirk, is unbothered, confident one man arriving at the end can accomplish nothing. He then drops the floor out from under the rest, dumping them a level down into a hall where three of the Eight Bullets emerge from the dust. As Fat Gum squares up, Tamaki claims the fight himself, determined to answer for the moment he faltered.

Nighteye's team uncovers the hidden entrance and fights down through the compound toward the basement.

Mimic warps the walls and floors to stall the advance, and Shota cannot erase a Quirk whose user he cannot see.

Mirio phases ahead alone toward Overhaul, and Tamaki volunteers to take on three of the Eight Bullets by himself.
