Chapter 141

Layered shells and a dense knot of octopus limbs absorb Yu Hojo's crystallized punch, and Tamaki Amajiki takes the blow without breaking. Hojo compliments the tactic, then grows fresh crystals and rips himself loose. Thirty months of training at U.A. taught Tamaki to vary the scale of what he manifests, run several manifestations at once, and pick individual traits out of what he eats, and he intends to use all of it to end this now.

Behind a shelled mask, he unleashes Chimera Kraken, a barrage of oversized octopus legs that buries Setsuno and Hojo. Setsuno calls on Soramitsu Tabe, who wakes, bites down, and starts eating the tentacles, since his Quirk lets him swallow and digest anything at all. Tamaki understands why Aizawa erased that Quirk first. The mask then vanishes, lifted by Larceny, and the distraction lets Hojo bury a crystal fist in Tamaki's face. When Tamaki tries loading his arms with the neurotoxin in octopus saliva to paralyze Tabe, Setsuno steals the poisoned limb before it can be eaten, noting that his range covers anything not too large. Another crystallized slam puts Tamaki on the floor.

The Bullets tell him that trash they may be, but the bonds between them are hard as stone. Tamaki answers that beating him changes nothing, since all three are going to be arrested regardless, and Setsuno replies that capture does not frighten him. What follows is their case against the world: people who cannot fit are thrown out, some are betrayed into ruinous debt, others are worked like tools until they learn the gems they mined were fakes and that they are worth nothing. Overhaul took such people in rather than let them rot, which is why Setsuno will kill whoever stands in his way. Tamaki, seeing conditioning rather than worth, asks whether being used and discarded is really acceptable to them.

Hojo dismisses the question and swings to finish it. A manifested chicken leg lets Tamaki flick a crystal shard with its talons into Setsuno, whose Larceny needs line of sight and fails while he recoils. The incoming strike lands, but Hojo finds it blunted: a huge crystallized chicken leg has clamped onto his body. Granting that he cannot share their anger, Tamaki says he does understand hard bonds. He swings the crystallized leg, hammers Hojo into Setsuno and Tabe, and drives all three into the wall. With the trio beaten, he reflects that bonds like theirs prove they were more than tools to each other, and that friendship carries real power.

Tamaki debuts Chimera Kraken and struggles against the combined counters of Crystallize, Larceny, and Tabe's eating Quirk.

The three Bullets declare their contempt for a society that cast them aside and their absolute loyalty to Overhaul, who gave them a use.

Suneater neutralizes Setsuno's line of sight, clamps Hojo with a crystallized chicken leg, and defeats all three at once.

Titled Hassaikai: Behind the Scenes, the chapter was published on June 19, 2017 in issue 29 of that year, runs seventeen pages, and belongs to volume 16. Episode 71 adapts it.

Suneater and Yu Hojo appear on the cover. Manifest, Crystallize, Food, Larceny, and a mentioned Erasure feature, and Kraken debuts as a super move.

The bout between Suneater and Setsuno, Hojo, and Tabe concludes here within the ongoing Shie Hassaikai Raid. Horikoshi's comment apologizes for another week away from the magazine.
