Chapter 303

Best Jeanist and Hawks walk in on the Todorokis offering help, which surprises them. Hawks mentions he has been collecting intelligence since his release, and Rei drops to her knees to apologize for what her son did to him. He anxiously waves it off while Best Jeanist apologizes for listening at the door.

Learning how far Endeavor's obsession ran was a shock, Hawks says. He goes to Shoto and asks whether the burn came from his father as well, and Rei cuts in to claim it herself while Shoto looks on in silence. Hawks thinks of his own family, whom he never confronted and simply left behind, and tells Shoto he is a class act.

He then briefs Endeavor on the last two days. Paranormal Liberation Front members are still unaccounted for. More than ten thousand convicts walked out of the prisons that Tomura Shigaraki and the Nomu tore open. With its people dead or hospitalized, the Hero Public Safety Commission has gone dark. Heroes are resigning. Citizens playing at self defense are multiplying the wreckage. The government has asked for aid from heroes abroad, but with the Commission shut down there is nobody to process the paperwork.

Fighting, Hawks concludes, is the only option left, and he and Best Jeanist cheerfully announce they are making it a team-up of the top three so that Endeavor and his family do not shoulder it alone. Asked why, Hawks reflects that things stand differently for him now, and that he means to put his weight behind anyone reaching to be better. Endeavor accepts through tears. Natsuo says the arrangement lasts until Toya is stopped, and he agrees.

Hawks moves straight to business: Dabi's accusations demand a public statement, which he has been drafting, though one point stops him. He asks Endeavor what One For All is. Fuyumi recalls the press pressing them on the phrase as they entered the hospital, a strange thing Endeavor had said mid-battle, and wondering whether it ties to All For One. Endeavor thinks back to the fight with Tomura, who announced he was hunting One For All, and to Deku warning that he might be the target, and suggests the boy would know.

Katsuki Bakugo is still losing his mind that Izuku remains unconscious while he is awake, enough that Tsuyu, Minoru, and Rikido physically carry him off. Tenya and Ochaco note that normal service has resumed; he had feared the worst given the injuries, while she finds him louder than ever and mildly irritating. Kyoka arrives with word that Fumikage and Denki are cleared for release, then asks whether Izuku's body at least is fine. Ochaco relays what the doctors said, eyes on his door, worried.

Hawks and Best Jeanist reach that door, the latter relieved Katsuki is intact, the former asking to speak with Izuku. Tenya says All Might asked for time alone with him, which gives Hawks something to chew on. Beyond the door, All Might keeps watch above the sleeping boy, sensing the version of himself held within One For All and knowing that right now, Izuku is talking with the predecessors.

Having overheard the family, Hawks and Best Jeanist offer to help hunt Dabi and restore order. Hawks reveals that over ten thousand convicts walked out of the prisons torn open by the Near High-End Nomu and Tomura, and that the government's request for foreign hero aid is stalled by the Commission's shutdown. Hawks begins investigating One For All: the phrase has already leaked to the media, who are speculating about a link to All For One. Endeavor, recalling Tomura's pursuit of Deku, points Hawks toward Izuku. All Might senses himself inside One For All and knows Izuku is speaking with the predecessors.
