Chapter 351

The Hero Almanac describes Flashfire Fist as a technique that stockpiles internal heat to its ceiling before discharging all of it at once, the highest expression of fire that Endeavor ever reached. Mastering it in pursuit of power taught him where his own limits were, while the flame itself warped and disfigured the people caught in his gaze.

Dabi, steadily combusting, laughs and offers thanks for the conversation, saying his brother will make decent kindling even with their father absent. Shoto keeps his fire and ice balanced and notes that his brother's temperature is climbing faster than his own, unhindered by any hesitation. He answers that he will be the one to end this.

Dabi has thoughts about Shoto too. While rebuilding his weakened flame he kept returning to Endeavor's words of encouragement, and the numbness spreading through his body stripped away the limits that would have stopped him, letting him chase max output. Asking whether Shoto is an All Might fan, he fires Flashfire Fist: Hell Spider, throwing spirals of flame in every direction beyond the tornado. The heroes scramble clear, recognizing Endeavor's technique, and Ingenium notices that this version is thicker and messier, which makes him fear for Shoto.

Burnin, Kido, and Onima shield Shoto while he charges his blast, and Dabi appears behind him regardless, having used Hell Spider purely as misdirection. He drives a burning fist into his brother and asks how it felt to sit at U.A. among frightened civilians while carrying both Endeavor's name and his brother's. He keeps hammering, calling Shoto the boy born with everything, handed an ideal body in an ideal place and still leaning on everybody around him, a half-baked puppet who will never amount to anything, then blows him into a building with Jet Burn.

Shoto neutralizes the heat, which surprises Dabi. He agrees with the assessment. He has been full of doubt all along and knows what he is. Still, since he had assumed his brother only ever looked at Endeavor, he is glad to hear that he has been watching him closely too.

Before the war, at U.A., Endeavor called Shoto asking him to reconsider his placement. Shoto instead raised All For One, pointing out that of the heroes still standing, only Endeavor can meet him, exactly as only Izuku can meet Tomura. He is the best available answer to Toya, he argued, and he wants the job. Endeavor called it his own duty, and Shoto replied that everyone has a role and together they will take the villains down.

Shoto tells Dabi that their father was a lunatic and the family was broken, but every person he killed with fire was a choice he made, and he will not be allowed another innocent life. As Dabi reacts violently, Shoto tells him to point that rage back at the family where it belongs, and lets loose Flashfire Fist: Phosphor.

Dabi uses Flashfire Fist to launch Hell Spider and Jet Burn at Shoto and the surrounding heroes.

Dabi voices his contempt for Shoto, who in his view was handed everything and never made use of it, always depending on others.

A flashback shows Endeavor trying to move Shoto to a different team before the war. Shoto refused, insisting the Dabi fight had to be his, exactly as All For One belonged to Endeavor and Tomura belonged to Izuku.

Shoto reveals Phosphor, his own Flashfire Fist technique, entirely of his own creation, merging his fire and ice, and declares he will use it to stop his brother.

Kohei Horikoshi titled this chapter Two Flashfires, romanized Futatsu no Kakushaku. Fifteen pages, published April 25, 2022 in issue 21, collected into volume 36, and adapted in Episode 146.

Endeavor, Shoto, and Dabi appear together on the cover. The entire chapter unfolds at Ground Zero in Kamino.

Horikoshi's author comment complains of fluid discharging from his ears on top of allergies, leaving his whole head a mess.
