Chapter 370: HIStory

A young mutant remembers a furious crowd shouting that he was a monster with tainted blood, and that no amount of social progress would ever win his kind acceptance. Kurogiri ranks as the High-End Nomu nearest to a masterpiece, so All For One deduced that Central Hospital was holding him, and dispatched Spinner along with the Paranormal Liberation Front's surviving warriors and the civilians who had taken up their cause. Fifteen thousand strong, the column bears down on a defense of roughly two hundred.

Present Mic leaps up, thinking about how popular Oboro has become, and lets fly a Loud-Out Shout, but the crowd raises a wall of bodies to absorb most of the vibration. A flying soldier dives at him and Anima's crows intercept, their handler explaining that he and Tentacole were split up in the fighting. The officers call for reinforcements that do not exist and fall back on taser shields while the marchers work at dividing and isolating them.

Overrun, Rock Lock cannot understand how the mob is this coordinated as it weeps and chants about binding everyone and about a grief nobody else will ever grasp. Anima is driven to the ground asking why any of this is happening, and a heteromorph who clocks his city upbringing brands him a traitor. The crowd opens a lane for Spinner as Takaie Kanigumo begins to address the throng.

Spinner's army is revealed to combine Paranormal Liberation Front remnants with sympathetic civilians, around 15,000 people against roughly 200 Heroes and Police Force members. Kurogiri is established as the Nomu that came nearest to being a masterpiece.

The hospital's defenders are overwhelmed by the heteromorph army, which denounces the Heroes and rallies behind Spinner as their symbol. A past atrocity called "The 6/6 Incident", where heteromorphs were slaughtered for no reason, comes to light. Spinner's mental state has deteriorated under the strain of the Body Bulk Quirk All For One gave him. Details of Tentacole's past emerge, and his face is shown unmasked for the first time.

Kanigumo dismisses Quirk counseling and education as nonsense, arguing heteromorphs know better than anyone because of how they look. He invokes the 6/6 Incident, also called the Great Jeda Purge, and concedes that diverse cities carry less prejudice while insisting that outside them people still call his kind unsettling. He tells everyone who has lived in shadow that they will make their own light, and tells the Heroes, who never once wished their Quirks away, that Spinner and not they will lead his people to the center of society.

Spinner himself is drooling and increasingly incoherent, unable to follow the speeches, holding only to his orders and to recovering Kurogiri. Tentacole intercepts him with an Octoblow before he can reach a cluster of officers, and the crowd swarms the Hero as a traitor playing at heroism. He asks how attacking a hospital serves their cause at all, reminds them that when Jaku City was hit, the Heroes' first act was to evacuate patients, and asks whether any of them considered that. Revealed as the mutant child from the opening, mouth and scars uncovered, he throws them off and declares he will not allow this without a plan behind it. The chapter runs 15 pages in Volume 37 and is adapted in Episode 152. The 6/6 Incident and the Great Jeda Purge nod to Order 66 and the Great Jedi Purge from Star Wars.
