Chapter 6+ Alpha (Vigilantes)

Eizo Tanuma convenes the country's leading Heroes to address the wave of villains erupting across Naruhata Ward. Endeavor wants to know why All Might is missing and takes the answer badly once he learns the Symbol of Peace has gone off to fight instead. The room works through what they know: the outbreaks trace back to ordinary residents who have been injected against their will with Trigger.

Endeavor's proposed remedy is blunt. Dig into a person's history the moment they break out, and brand them villains until whatever they were dosed with wears off. Eizo balks. Endeavor pushes back that anyone using a Quirk beyond what the law permits already qualifies as a villain, and the continued hesitation stokes his temper until he snaps that Eizo should go take the question to All Might himself. Naomasa Tsukauchi turns up carrying the answer: All Might pledges greater vigilance and urges everyone to concentrate on keeping civilians out of danger. The meeting adjourns with Endeavor all but on fire with frustration.

In the corridor afterward, Midnight catches Eraser Head and asks after Hizashi Yamada, who was expected at the meeting; a cold has kept him home. She picks at Aizawa's appearance, and he fires back that someone so eager to lecture others ought to go be a teacher. To his dismay she says that is precisely the plan. Nezu has personally asked for her, and she joins U.A. High School's faculty next year. Her philosophy of teaching arrives wrapped in innuendo, and Aizawa wants no part of her methods.

Her rebuttal is cut short when a stranger with a Suicide Bomb Quirk forces his way in, intending to level the building and everyone inside it. Endeavor, still seething, wreathes himself in flame and prepares to reduce the man to ash, until Midnight points out that burning him would simply set off the detonation. Eraser Head hauls the bomber clear of the blast and delivers him into Midnight's reach, where her Somnambulist puts him under. The Midnight Boys burst in fearing for her safety; she has them hand the man to the police, with a warning that any repeat performance earns him a personal visit to her agency.

With the bomber gone, Midnight picks up her argument where it broke off, insisting that shaping young people demands a spread of viewpoints and teaching styles. Aizawa calls the whole notion ridiculous, since nothing could be less rational than him standing in a classroom, and walks out. The next day, having just wrapped up another arrest, he gets word from Midnight that she has sent a recommendation letter to the principal and that U.A. has accepted him too. His career as a teacher starts there.

The chapter runs 19 pages and was collected in Volume 3, with Knuckleduster, The Crawler and Pop☆Step sharing the cover despite not featuring in the story. Suicide Bomber and the Midnight Boys debut. All Might, Knuckleduster and Sir Nighteye's absence aside, the cast is drawn largely from the Pro Hero ranks, including Death Arms, Airjet, Best Jeanist, Snipe, Thirteen, Manual, Ingenium, Gunhead and Sansa Tamakawa. Hizashi Yamada is heard only by voice, and Nezu appears in a fantasy.
