Jessie James Grelle is an American voice actor who plays Fumikage Tokoyami in My Hero Academia, one of many lead and supporting parts they have taken on across the anime dubbing industry since 2005.
Grelle voices Fumikage Tokoyami in the English dub of My Hero Academia, a brooding Class 1-A student whose bird-like head and gothic sensibility set him apart from his more upbeat classmates. Tokoyami's Quirk, Dark Shadow, is a living shadow creature that grows more powerful and harder to control in darkness, forcing the character to constantly manage his own strength. Grelle brings a restrained, introspective quality to the role that fits the character's guarded personality.
Grelle has anchored dozens of lead roles in anime since debuting in 2005, voicing Armin Arlert on Attack on Titan and taking the male lead in the Date A Live franchise as Shido Itsuka. Other major credits include Yuri Katsuki on Yuri!!! on Ice, Byakuya Togami in the Danganronpa games, and Issei Hyodo across the High School DxD series, alongside video game work as Ludger Kresnik from Tales of Xillia 2. They are also credited as an ADR script writer on several of the shows they have voiced.
