Orochimaru's experiments had left him with a cursed seal, and once it activated, wide flaps unfurled on either side of his head along with other reptilian traits, giving him the look of a frilled lizard.

A short, violent temper drove him, making him a savage and aggressive fighter whenever he was provoked.

His fury translated into genuine combat ability, and he could push his cursed seal into its advanced second state. When Sasuke Uchiha arrived at the Northern Hideout with Karin and Suigetsu Hōzuki, Ahiko was among the inmates who confronted the group in that heightened form. Even so, he proved no obstacle, and Hebi cut him down with little effort.
