CharacterAkane is a boy from the Land of Waves who once bullied Inari and made off with his pet dog Pochi. After Kaiza rescues Inari and sets him straight, Akane trades tormenting for friendship, and years later he lends a hand rebuilding Konoha as a carpenter.
Personality
At the start Akane is nothing but a tormentor, forever picking on Inari, and a coward besides, dissolving into tears the instant thugs snatch him and his friends. The anime lets him grow past it: he admits he was wrong, says sorry, and swaps his cruelty for friendship.
History
Akane takes Inari's dog Pochi, tires of him, and hurls the animal into the sea; when Inari falters, Akane shoves him in after and walks off with his friends while the boy begins to sink. Kaiza pulls Inari out and gives him a firm dressing-down, and the dog no longer seems to be his.
In the anime, Akane and his gang corner Inari to bully him yet again, only for Zori and Waraji to overhear and abduct the whole lot of them. Terrified, the boys weep until Inari frees them and sends them to alert the village while he stalls the thugs. The pair reach Naruto and Sasuke, who rout the kidnappers with the villagers' help, and afterward Akane owns up to his cruelty and befriends the boy he once picked on. By the time Konoha is being rebuilt following Pain's destruction, Akane has taken up carpentry to aid the effort.
