Chamaru

Chamaru looks very much like a Shiba Inu. He is a medium-sized dog with light brown fur and an especially full, bushy tail. His back right leg is artificial, a prosthetic standing in for the limb he lost.

Akita speaks of him as a deeply dutiful companion, one who fell into sorrow when his injury threatened to end his working life as a ninken. He also carries a warm familiarity with Boruto Uzumaki from earlier days together.

A mission once costs Chamaru his right hind leg, and it is Katasuke Tono who fits him with a mechanical replacement, an outcome that draws his partner Akita into the village's Scientific Ninja Weapons Team. Trained in the Inuzuka arts, Akita commands techniques such as the Fang Passing Fang, the Fang Roar, and the Fang Passing Whirlwind, and as her canine partner Chamaru is able to join her in these collaboration attacks.

During the Ao Arc, he escorts Katasuke to the laboratory and instantly picks Boruto's scent out of the air, bounding over to his old friend, though Boruto is startled by the new prosthetic. Learning what Katasuke did for the dog finally cools Boruto's grudge against the scientist and against advanced ninja tools. When Konohamaru Sarutobi vanishes on assignment, Akita volunteers Chamaru's nose for the search. He guides the young ninja and Katasuke to a downed blimp, where they barely overcome a swarm of self-guiding puppets, then leads them onward to a cave sheltering Konohamaru and his partner Mugino. The group is soon cornered by Ao and his machine-gun, and later, after the confrontation with Koji Kashin, Chamaru is the one who alerts the team upon discovering an unconscious boy among the wrecked puppets.
