Demonic Statue of the Outer Path

Character

The Demonic Statue of the Outer Path is the hollow husk of the Ten-Tails, left behind after its chakra was stripped away. Sealed in the moon by Hagoromo and Hamura Ōtsutsuki, it is later summoned by Madara Uchiha and used by Akatsuki as the vessel for sealing captured tailed beasts.

Appearance

The statue is a towering, earthen-hued humanoid with a mummified, robe-like body and rows of spike-like protrusions down its back. It dwarfs even the tailed beasts, with Gyūki reaching only its chin, and it rivals a tall mountain in scale. Nine man-sized eyes, normally shut, dot its form; when open they are blank white, but each gains a pale blue iris as a tailed beast is sealed inside. Madara first fits it with a full blindfold, which later gains eye-holes, and its wrists and ankles are shackled while it bites a scroll held by ropes. Freed for battle, it snaps its bindings so the scroll dangles like an earring, and during its shift toward the Ten-Tails its mouth widens and the back spikes stretch and warp.

Abilities

Only a genuine Rinnegan can summon the statue, and unlike ordinary summons it demands no blood but instead drains its summoner's life force whenever tailed-beast chakra does not sustain it; Nagato survived that toll through his Uzumaki blood yet was left permanently withered, while Madara and Obito summoned it unscathed. Wielders of both Uchiha and Senju power can control it without summoning it. It radiates an immense life force that keeps a Ten-Tails jinchūriki alive through extraction, and Madara used it as a catalyst to grow Hashirama's cells into a vast tree and to stretch his own lifespan.

Its sheer size gives it crushing strength, enough to clash with the colossal forms of Chōza and Chōji Akimichi, shrug off a Butterfly Bullet Bombing punch, and halt Kitsuchi's Earth Release with outstretched arms, all while leaping great distances. From its mouth it emits phantom dragons of absorption chakra that instantly siphon a target's chakra, the basis of the multi-day sealing ritual Akatsuki performs on captured beasts. It also produces suppressing chakra chains for extracting and sealing beasts, sprouts black receivers from its torso, and can loose battlefield-levelling shock waves and bolts of chakra from its back.

History

After Hagoromo and Hamura Ōtsutsuki defeat the Ten-Tails, they turn its body into the core of the moon and seal its husk there, with Hamura's line left to guard it. A millennium on, Madara Uchiha awakens the Rinnegan, breaks the seal and draws the husk to earth, naming it the Demonic Statue and later passing a Rinnegan to Nagato so the boy can summon it too. As Pain, Nagato calls the statue up each time Akatsuki captures a jinchūriki, sealing the One-Tail from Gaara, the Two- and Three-Tails, and others across their campaign.

In the Fourth Shinobi World War, Tobi summons the statue to serve as a replacement for the Nine-Tails, and it rampages through the Allied Shinobi Forces before absorbing the beasts and painfully regressing into the revived Ten-Tails. Later, after the beasts are drawn out of Obito, Madara summons the husk from his body, losing its right arm to Kakashi's Kamui, and finally, once Kaguya is sealed, the statue reforms from her body and is bound again within the core of the new moon alongside Black Zetsu.
