The Gatekeeper is a colossal fiddler crab that guards the passage leading to the Moon. Fiercely territorial, it strikes at nearly anything that nears the entrance, sparing only Toneri's puppets and the Otsutsuki clan, and it stands among the obstacles faced during the events of The Last: Naruto the Movie.
Although its body follows the basic shape of an ordinary crab, its scale is staggering. A red shell covers it, and bands of yellow and blue run along its eight legs. Its two claws are mismatched in size, its mouth bristles with sharp teeth, and a pale, crown-shaped growth crests its head.
The crab is single-minded about its post and openly aggressive, lashing out at whatever draws close to the lunar gateway. The only figures it leaves unharmed are the puppets controlled by Toneri and, apparently, members of the Otsutsuki clan.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
The guardian commands Water Release methods, among them the Wild Water Wave technique, and it wields a measure of genjutsu potent enough to snare its victims in illusion. Its oversized claws can tear a person apart, and the thick armour plating makes the creature extraordinarily hard to kill. It burst up from the sediment of a cavern to ambush Shikamaru Nara and Sai in the middle of a conversation. The pair wore it down through hard-fought effort, and Sakura Haruno finished it by driving a chakra-charged blow into the top of its shell, caving in the plate and the organs beneath so that a flood of yellow fluid poured out and the crab expired. Sai afterward borrowed its form as one of his ink drawings, and in the novel version of the film Shikamaru dubs its bubble-based techniques Bubble Release.
