Gekko is a former Land of Snow shinobi who leads the Byakuya Gang, a band that poses as champions of the poor while lining his own pockets. A master manipulator, he built his following on deception and rose to trouble Konohagakure during the Boruto era.
Gekko is short and thickset, with white hair swept up into a mohawk and sideburns that meet his beard. Dark yellow eyes, a broad nose, and a thin moustache round out his features. His everyday clothes run to a dark jacket over a pale t-shirt, trousers, and plain sandals. When operating with the Byakuya Gang he hides behind a black long-haired wig and a white mask, adds a beaked poncho at the hem, and covers his hands entirely with gloves, keeping the cursed seal on his right palm out of sight.
What was once loyalty to his homeland and his companions curdled over time into pure self-interest. Gekko is manipulative and cruel, having assembled the entire Byakuya Gang atop a lie meant only to enrich him. He feels nothing about betraying even his closest friends, willing to kill them outright to guard his wealth and tie off any loose ends.
Gekko once served as a shinobi of the Land of Snow, working side by side with Ryogi's father on missions before his ambition outgrew the work. He founded the Byakuya Gang under the banner of aiding the downtrodden, all the while quietly amassing a fortune. Sensing the power sleeping in young Ryogi, he murdered the boy's parents, rewrote his memories to cast himself as the rescuer who had saved him from that very killer, and lured him into the gang by claiming his late father had belonged to it too. He is a shrewd organizer who plots elaborate heists, but his sharpest weapon is deceit. His talent for genjutsu, channeled through cursed seals, lets him twist how people perceive the world and even overwrite their memories, and he leans on mirrors and reflections to slip his illusions past those who understand how his technique works.
The gang's activities eventually reached Konohagakure. Starting with minor thefts, Gekko spread a message of equality for all and won broad sympathy across the village, which let him seed false rumors that respectable companies were mistreating their workers. The resulting unrest pulled the village's ninja toward crowd control and freed him to target the research of Katasuke Tono. On his way out he killed the operator driving a train and sent Ryogi to hold off Boruto Uzumaki and Shikadai Nara, but that pursuit failed to stop them. Naruto Uzumaki arrived and subdued him quickly, and Gekko was taken prisoner and sent to jail.
