Appearance

The records preserve no physical description of Hohozuki himself. Ironically, his likeness outlived him through another: Ameyuki, blaming himself for the death and holding his friend to be the finer of the two, used the Transformation Technique to permanently take on Hohozuki's identity, and carried on living only because that was what Hohozuki had wanted.

Personality

Where the rest of the village turned on Ameyuki, Hohozuki alone extended friendship, refusing to share the hatred aimed at the boy. That loyalty ran deep enough that he schemed a way for the two of them to slip off and live in peace together, valuing his friend's wellbeing above his own safety.

History

Hohozuki grew up in the same settlement as Ameyuki and became his only friend at a time when everyone else despised the boy. When slavers raided the village and carried off its women and children, Hohozuki among them, Ameyuki came to the rescue and cut the raiders down with his Mud Release. Gratitude never followed; the villagers only grew more afraid and moved to kill their savior. Learning of the plot, Hohozuki urged Ameyuki to leave with him for Shangri-la, a place where the two could exist unbothered. Their intentions reached the wrong ears before they could depart, and the villagers killed Hohozuki for it.
