Kazuma, later known as Furido, was a former member of the Twelve Guardian Ninja who turned against Konohagakure. Convinced the village was too weak to protect the Land of Fire, he plotted to hand full command to the Fire Daimyo and weaponized his own son, Sora, to do it.
In his Guardian days, Kazuma was a tall, tanned man in plain dark clothing, brown-haired, dressed in a short-sleeved shirt and long pants with black shoes and a red band across his forehead. Reborn as Furido, he had aged strikingly: his hair had grown long, white, and worn, a pale scar cut diagonally across his face from Asuma's final blow, and he wore a purple qipao-style garment lined in yellow, blue, and grey over straw sandals. So much had changed that Asuma barely recognized him.
By Sora's account, Kazuma had once been kind, upbeat, and proud of himself, diligent enough to keep his Guardian sash spotless. Asuma remembered a man of deep conviction and loyalty to his country. That devotion curdled into a radical creed: fearing the Land of Fire too fragile, he decided only conquest under one ruler could keep it safe, and when the Fire Daimyo refused, he resolved on assassination, betraying the very oath he had sworn. The shift left him ruthless and hypocritical, ready to cast off every moral tie, even sacrificing his own son. As Furido he hid all this behind a laid-back, joking front, concealing his identity to manipulate Sora into serving his ends.
Once one of the Twelve Guardian Ninja, Kazuma left his son Sora in the care of the Fire Temple monks before he and five others resolved to do away with Konoha and restore command of the Land of Fire to the daimyo, then use that unity to conquer other nations. When he moved to kill the daimyo, Asuma stopped him, and a long battle left only Kazuma, Asuma, and Chiriku alive; Asuma seemingly struck Kazuma down, a secret Chiriku kept. Kazuma survived, however, and spent years plotting. He took the name Furido, recruited Fuen, Fuka, and Fudo, and, having gathered the Nine-Tails' leaked chakra during Kurama's attack, sealed both that chakra and the beast's cells inside Sora as a hidden weapon.
Furido and his team lured Team Yamato out with stolen corpses and reunited with Sora, gradually unsealing the boy's demonic power. Revealing that Asuma had killed his father, he swayed Sora against Konoha, only for the boy to recoil once he learned Furido meant to destroy the entire village. After his revival scheme using the Limelight technique failed and his allies died, Asuma chased him into the woods, exposed his identity, and, when Kazuma broke free for one last strike, cut him down for good. His Guardian sash fell unstained beside his body, echoing Sora's memory of the father whose sash never soiled.
