When a sickness known as the Dark Cloud spread through his village, Kokushi looked after his son Kanchi, who had come down with it. Boro then appeared with his followers, professing that they had come to deliver the people from their affliction. Though wary and himself infected, Kokushi watched as Boro appeared to cure him, his boy, and their neighbors. Seizing on their poverty, Boro persuaded Kokushi and the rest to enter his cult with the promise of reliving the Infinite Tsukuyomi they had experienced a decade before.
