Kotohime

Worn long in the classic hime style, Kotohime's black hair frames a pair of dark, pupil-less eyes. For everyday wear she favours a tight pale green vest split open at the centre so her stomach and cleavage stay exposed, paired with a camouflage scarf and matching skirt cinched by a black belt over black shinobi footwear. When her job is to distract Jiraiya, she swaps all of that for a red kimono.

Cool and calculating, Kotohime carries herself with a slippery seriousness and a real gift for manipulation. She spikes Jiraiya's drink and comes within a hair of bedding him, and once she commits to killing him her composure cracks into open madness, as she vows to drag the toad sage and herself down to the underworld on Orochimaru's command.

Kotohime's people had only just fought a neighbouring country to the end of a war when they began roaming the Land of Rice Fields in search of a home. It is there that Orochimaru and Kimimaro approach the Fūma with a bargain: pledge themselves to Otogakure and their lost strength will be rebuilt. Kotohime says yes and follows, later learning the koto under Orochimaru himself. During the Land of Rice Fields Investigation Mission, that training becomes bait. Jiraiya trails the smell of white face powder and a drifting koto melody through the hideout's tunnels until he reaches her room, where she insists her only duty is to entertain visitors and hands him sake laced with drugs.

His wariness grows, and when she edges closer he pushes her away, at which point she rakes his wrist with poison-tipped finger picks and drops him to the ground. Chakra lets her steer her own hair at will, and she uses it to lash him in place, a binding hold that leaves a victim barely able to move, before admitting her real assignment is to slay any intruder. Madness takes her as she caves a rigged ceiling down on them both. How the clash ends is never shown; once the surrounding fight concludes and the lair falls apart, she is hauled out cold atop one of Jiraiya's toads. As he departs the region she joins the other Fūma in waving him off.
