Matsuri is a one-time Academy student of Konohagakure remembered mainly for a curious question she once put to the Third Hokage about who he most wished to protect. She turns up briefly across Part I and the anime as one of the village's younger background students.
Matsuri has thick black hair worn in loose locks, held back by a red headband, above large dark eyes. Her clothing is unfussy: a plain purple blouse over a pink tank top, capri trousers, and sandals.
Matsuri comes across as an inquisitive child, a trait shown when she asked the Third Hokage which people he would most want to keep safe.
During an open-air lesson beneath the Hokage Rock, Iruka Umino brought Matsuri and her classmates to learn about the Hokage. The Third Hokage joined them, spoke of the Will of Fire, and urged the children to protect those dear to them; when Matsuri asked whether anyone mattered enough for him to fight for, he answered that he would defend everyone in the village. Her class was later moved to safety behind the Hokage Monument during the Konoha Crush.
In anime-only moments she helps see off the Three Sand Siblings with Shikamaru and others, and joins Hinata Hyuga on a training trip to Mount Takurami, where a tent shields the group from a sudden storm. Years later, during the Fourth Shinobi World War, Konohamaru rallied her and other young shinobi to meet an incoming threat, and she celebrated with them after they and the Allied Mothers Force drove off attacking Sumo Wrestlers.
Matsuri grew from a curious Konoha Academy student who once questioned the Third Hokage's resolve into a young shinobi who, years later, helped repel an enemy attack during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
In Naruto, Matsuri is a minor Konohagakure character, a former Academy student under Iruka Umino, best remembered for a pointed question she once asked the Third Hokage.
During an outdoor lesson, Matsuri asked the Third Hokage whether anyone mattered enough for him to personally fight for, and he answered that he would defend everyone in the village.
Matsuri's name means 'festival' and is also linked to the Arabian jasmine flower.
During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Konohamaru rallied Matsuri and other young shinobi to meet an incoming threat, and she celebrated alongside the Allied Mothers Force after they drove off attacking Sumo Wrestlers.
