Meizu has wild, dark-brown hair falling to his shoulders and dark eyes. A rebreather masks the lower half of his face, and his Kirigakure forehead protector carries two horns. On his left arm sits a large, clawed poison gauntlet trailing a chain that joins his brother's matching weapon. He rounds out his gear with a camouflage suit, bandages wound about his waist, several pouches, and dark knee-length sandals.

History

Meizu and Gozu fled Kirigakure with Zabuza after his failed bid to assassinate the Mizukage, and from then on worked as assassins for him. The pair are a model of coordinated attack: a retractable shuriken chain runs between their gauntlets so they can lash an enemy and shred him, and Gozu can release the mechanism to fight alone if the chain is cut. Meizu tears at foes with the poisoned claws of his gauntlet, moves with enough stealth to lurk unseen at Konoha's gates, and shares his brother's Water Release, letting the two rise out of puddles to ambush.

At the start of the series Zabuza sent them to kill Tazuna. Emerging through the Hiding in Water Technique, they appeared to slay Kakashi with ease and turned on Naruto Uzumaki, only for Sasuke Uchiha to sever the chain binding them; when they pressed on separately, Kakashi, who had escaped by a Body Replacement, subdued and bound them. The prologue novelisation implies the brothers slipped back to Zabuza after Team 7 moved on.
