Appearance

Straight black hair fell to Mikoto's back, its bangs dropping past either cheek to frame her face, and her eyes were black against fair skin. Around the house she favoured a plain dark purple blouse beneath a pale yellow apron, worn with a red-plum skirt. In Sasuke's infancy her look differed slightly: a brown blouse, a deep purple skirt, blue sandals, and noticeably longer side bangs.

Personality

Gentleness defined Mikoto, though she could turn firm when a situation demanded it, as when she kept Sasuke from playing until his schoolwork was done. She adored both boys and had a knack for easing their worries, often reassuring Sasuke about his brother and quietly explaining why Fugaku seemed to favour Itachi. Devoted to her husband and mindful of the weight of his role as clan head, she stayed a loyal partner. She was the parent Sasuke found easier to confide in, and even as she, like others, grew wary of Itachi's odd behaviour near the end, her love for her firstborn never faltered.

History

Marriage to Fugaku Uchiha turned Mikoto toward domestic life and the raising of Itachi and Sasuke, even though her jonin rank spoke to genuine ability; she would later offer to coach Sasuke in shuriken work, hinting at a grounding in shurikenjutsu. Shortly before Kushina Uzumaki gave birth, the two friends met in the street, where Mikoto presented baby Sasuke and noted that he had been named for the Third Hokage's father in the hope he would grow into an equally formidable ninja. Their shared wish that the boys become friends, and Mikoto's laughter at Kushina's one true fear, childbirth, made her one of the few who knew Naruto's parentage. During the Nine-Tails' attack she returned home, relieved to find her sons unharmed.

When the clan's suppression was carried out, Itachi left his parents for last. Mikoto knelt beside Fugaku and offered no resistance, and as their distraught son tried to justify himself, she told him simply that they already understood before letting him take their lives. Her death would later fuel Sasuke's drive to avenge the clan.
