Background
Mokume earns his living as a construction worker in Konohagakure. The day before the village's Barrier Team was set to trial an upgraded sensing system, a co-worker gave him a lift to a Thunder Train station, from which he set off by rail to attend a friend's wedding held beyond the village.

Trouble surfaced on the day of the trial. Although Mokume was far from home, the sensors picked up his chakra signature inside Konoha, a false reading planted by Hyoi Yorishiro, who could replicate another person's chakra.
