Nowaki

Slight of build and pale-skinned, Nowaki stands about as tall as Sasuke Uchiha and wears his green hair long. His eyes are yellow, a thin scar sits beneath his left eye, and a dark hooded cloak usually shrouds him. Under it he favors a sleeveless grey shirt, matching grey trousers, a red headband, black stockings, grey sandals, and a beige belt at his waist. While he and Chino wage their campaign, she warps his frame to make him look taller, heavier, and broader in the face, so that those clothes hang loose once he shrinks back to normal.

On first meeting, Nowaki seems courteous and timid, but the meekness is a mask. He nurses a bitter loathing for anyone in a position of authority and uses his innocent, boyish act to study his targets before turning violent and eager for a fight. He was born into poverty on a small island within the Land of Water, shunned and scapegoated for a typhoon blamed on his kekkei genkai, then sold into cruelty under a man named Kusabi. Forced to fight in the Coliseum, he lost to Chino's Ketsuryūgan and passed into En Oyashiro's hands, yet the two children bonded over their shared loneliness and grew inseparable. He confided his past to her alone, helped her and the other captives escape, and went on to lead the Lightning Group, robbing criminals to feed the downtrodden. Chino is the one person he truly loves, looking up to her as an older sister. When Kirigakure's betrayal shatters the group, the pair reunite to plot vengeance on the villages that scorn those with bloodline powers.

A capable shinobi proven in the Coliseum's brutal matches, Nowaki can trade blows with Sasuke Uchiha for a time. His signature gift is Typhoon Release, a fierce offshoot of Wind Release unique to his bloodline. He whips up gales strong enough to blind and flatten opponents, and at full strain he unleashes a variant powerful enough to overshadow Sasuke's complete Susanoo and even push it onto the defensive, with storms vast enough to blanket an entire island. He is also deadly with thrown weapons, channeling wind chakra through custom Chakra Blades to sharpen them, extend their reach, and detonate them on impact. His campaign ends when Sasuke summons Aoda to slip free of a typhoon and shocks him with Lightning Release; injured and eventually moved by Sasuke's words about peace, Nowaki and Chino surrender and later accept Kirigakure's offer of freedom in exchange for service.
