Appearance

Tall and powerfully muscled, Shiranami wears his black hair shaggy, its bangs draped over his eyes and framing each side of his face. Pronounced folds sit under his lashless black eyes, giving him a resemblance to Itachi Uchiha. His outfit is a high-collared blue cloak stamped with the leaf symbol that proves him worthy of the clan's kinjutsu, worn above a black top cut off at mid-chest and loose, dark casual trousers.

Personality

Calm and patient on the surface, Shiranami is fundamentally apathetic, indifferent to morality and to what anyone else feels. He enslaves a whole village without a flicker of conscience and killed his father to reach his ends. Convinced that Hotaru makes a perfect tool, he assumes neither the Kage nor the daimyō can obstruct him, and he even paints himself as more decent than Utakata for abandoning his village, a hypocrisy given that he betrayed his father and cast aside his clan's traditions out of naked greed.

Abilities

A prodigy from childhood, Shiranami quickly overtook his father Hāto, himself the first pupil of En no Gyōja and a naturally gifted ninja, and was acknowledged young enough to wield the Tsuchigumo Clan's Fury kinjutsu. He also commands a jutsu that compels another to gather natural energy, so the forbidden art can be unleashed through an unwilling victim. Rounding out his skills are the Character Bind Technique, triggered by drawing a single kanji in the air with one finger, a talent for hiding unseen in shadow, a spying jutsu, and the collaboration technique Infinite Embrace, which makes breaking free of his hold almost impossible. Where his father had chosen to guard the Fury art, Shiranami wanted it for profit: in the Third Shinobi World War he turned on and killed his father to take it for himself.

When the hunt for the Six-Tails jinchūriki begins, Shiranami sends the Magaki Group after Hotaru and the kinjutsu sealed into her back. He shadows Team Yamato, adopts a disguise, and exploits Hotaru's trust by pretending to still serve her grandfather, talking her out of destroying the art. After seizing the Tsuchigumo village through fūinjutsu, he starts drawing the kinjutsu out of her, but Naruto and Utakata force their way in. He binds them and brags of ruling the world with Hotaru as his weapon, yet their tailed-beast chakra breaks his grip; when the technique backfires he bolts into the forest, where Naruto chases him down and ends him with a Rasengan.
