Fair-skinned and blonde, Yodo wears her hair long and mostly tucked beneath a hood, with a heavy bang sweeping across her forehead protector; the anime lets it fall straight to her thighs while the manga keeps it shorter and wilder. Red markings accent her eyes, grey in the manga and dark blue on screen, and she finishes the look with pink lipstick. Her outfit pairs a dark red bodysuit, slit horizontally below the collarbone, with a half-unzipped lavender hooded jacket and earbuds threaded into each ear, the hood and coat shielding her from dust and desert heat. Black gloves and wrappings around her ankles and one thigh round it out. Three years on, she trades much of that for a pink crop-style jacket over a black bandeau that bares her midriff, black pants with a whale-tail waistband, pink leg-warmer sandals, and hoop earrings, dropping her forehead protector in favor of a necklace bearing the Sand crest.

Yodo brims with self-assurance and never hesitates to reveal the full reach of her skills. Calm and even-tempered by default, she becomes fiercely protective the moment her friends are at stake, throwing herself into helping them however she can. That loyalty sits beside a running friction with Araya, whom she bickers with constantly, mission or not.

Regarded as Sunagakure's great hope, Yodo advanced all the way to the Chunin Exam finals. She holds her own in close combat, tearing apart a swarm of Tenten's puppets and slipping past Shikadai's kunai with almost no wasted motion. Her true edge is her extraordinary hearing: she can pick up a person's heartbeat and breathing to gauge their mood and predict how they will strike from the sound of their shifting stance. She is also remarkably tough, staying conscious even after being run through the stomach, and she can lash her hair to unleash a punishing sonic boom that disorients and wounds.

Her career took her through the Chunin Exams, where Shikadai finally beat her by using paper bombs to spoil her hearing and pin her with the Shadow Imitation Technique, and through later missions against Urashiki Otsutsuki and the carbon-wielding Deepa. Once promoted to chunin, her team's real errand was investigating Kawaki. Years later, when the God Tree Matsuri overran the Sand, Gaara bound her squad in sand to keep them clear of the fight, and she could only watch as a Claw Grime swallowed Shinki. Determined to free him, she joined Team 7 to confront the God Trees Matsuri and Ryu in the Land of Wind, barely masking her loathing for Ryu. When their scheme unraveled and Ryu overpowered the group, Yodo offered him her sensory talents in exchange for their lives, but he refused, cut her down, and forced Sarada Uchiha to finish the blow. With her last strength she urged Sarada to embrace a dangerous power for the sake of those she loved, drawing out the girl's Mangekyo Sharingan; that awakening turned the battle, yet Yodo died of her wounds, and Araya carried her body home to Sunagakure.
