On the front, the five Kage strain to survive Madara's wood clones cloaked in Susanoo. Against heavy odds, Onoki spurs them onward, insisting there is a duty they cannot afford to fail. Madara pinpoints Onoki as the obstacle and decides the old man's resolve must be shattered, prompting the Kage to press their attack once more.

The tide worsens when Madara answers with everything he has, calling up his final Susanoo and swinging its blade against them.

Away at the cave, Itachi orders Kabuto to shut down the Impure World Reincarnation. Sasuke declares he will destroy the very village that made his brother suffer, then says his goodbye. As the reincarnated shinobi begin dissolving into pillars of light, Itachi steps close and uses his Sharingan to lay the entire truth of the Uchiha downfall before Sasuke.

With the full story finally clear to his brother, Itachi presses his forehead to Sasuke's and leaves his last words: whatever Sasuke chooses to do from here, Itachi will always love him.

The episode adapts chapters 588 through 590 within the Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax arc. Its emotional core is Itachi's farewell, recasting the brother Sasuke had spent years hating as a man who acted out of love.
