Kakashi and Orochimaru: Face-to-Face!

Kakashi warns Orochimaru that he intends to end his life, a threat the Sannin brushes aside without concern. Rather than escalate, Orochimaru simply turns and departs. Watching him go, Kakashi privately concedes that taking Orochimaru down single-handed lies beyond his reach.

The scene shifts to the tournament floor, where Shino and Zaku press on with their bout. Zaku surprises his opponent by demonstrating that both of his arms are functional again, yet Shino turns the tide by deploying his destructive insects in a cunning trap. With Shino advancing, the bracket sets up Kankurō against Misumi Tsurugi as the following contest.

Kakashi confronts Orochimaru but recognizes he cannot defeat him alone, and Orochimaru withdraws unharmed. Shino secures victory over Zaku, exploiting Zaku's restored arms against him through his hidden swarm. The match closes out and clears the way for the next pairing between Kankurō and Misumi.

This entry falls in the Chūnin Exams arc of the original series and draws on chapters 69 and 70. One deviation from the print version stands out: the manga shows Zaku's arms getting blown off entirely, whereas the anime leaves them intact.
