Surprise Attack! Naruto's Secret Weapon!

When Kiba clouds the arena with a smokescreen, Naruto exploits the cover rather than panicking. Copying his opponent with the Transformation Technique, he masquerades as an extra Kiba and steers the real one into striking down Akamaru by mistake. The blunder enrages Kiba, but it does not close the skill gap, since the pill he fed his partner has sharpened his chakra and left him faster than Naruto can match.

The tide turns by accident. Pushing himself past his limit, Naruto lets out a fart directly in Kiba's face, and the fumes wreck an opponent whose sense of smell has been heightened. With Kiba reeling, Naruto seals the win using the Naruto Uzumaki Combo, a finisher he modeled on Sasuke's earlier Lion Combo but rebuilt around his shadow clones.

Naruto disguises himself as a duplicate of Kiba and baits him into knocking out Akamaru. The performance-enhancing pill keeps Kiba ahead on speed and chakra until his boosted nose becomes a liability. An unplanned burst of stench cripples Kiba long enough for Naruto to land his shadow-clone finisher, and the match ends in Naruto's favor.

The installment adapts chapters 76 and 77 and belongs to the Chunin Exams arc. It first aired in Japan on August 13, 2003, with an English broadcast following on July 29, 2006. Far Away plays as the opening theme and Harmonia closes the episode.
