The Targeted Sharingan

Three years on from Orochimaru's betrayal of the village, Danzō, whose failing right eye is dimming, dispatches Kinoe and a second Root agent to take Kakashi's Sharingan as a replacement. Yūgao finds Kakashi at the Konoha Cemetery to relay that the Third Hokage wants him, and there Kakashi is briefed on a discovered Orochimaru lair he is to investigate. Kinoe crosses his path at the site, and the two agree to cooperate before Kinoe abruptly turns on him to carry out his real orders. Their duel is savage, with Kakashi insisting that allies must never kill one another, while Kinoe throws back the rumor that Kakashi once slew his own friend.

Enraged, Kakashi pins Kinoe and readies a Chidori to end him, but his words finally land. Kinoe recalls his past and how Danzō drew him into Root, and he yields, telling Kakashi to strike if he must. Throughout the confrontation, a menacing creature stirs above them inside one of the lair's giant cylinders.

Shippūden episode 355 sits within Kakashi's Anbu Arc: The Shinobi That Lives in the Darkness. It aired in Japan on March 13, 2014, and in English on October 4, 2016. The opening theme is Size of the Moon and the ending theme is Rainbow. The friend Kinoe references is Rin Nohara.
