Summary

Sakura and Ino keep trading strikes with neither pulling ahead, both draining fast toward empty. Sakura scolds her rival for prizing her looks over her skills as a kunoichi, and the barb pushes Ino to slice off her own hair and cast it aside. Growing desperate, Ino gambles on her Mind Body Transfer to bully Sakura into quitting, fully aware that the technique is unreliable and would leave her frozen if it fails.

Sakura sidesteps the initial attempt and seems to have come out on top, only to be caught fast by strands of the discarded hair, which Ino has laced with chakra into a binding cord. Ino reveals that the miss was staged to herd Sakura into the snare, then fires off the transfer again, this time unable to fail, and seizes command of Sakura's body. She moves to make her surrender, but Naruto's shout not to give up rouses Inner Sakura, who ejects Ino from her mind. Baffled and spent, Ino has nothing left for a second try. Kakashi reckons her empty chakra reserves handed Sakura her narrow edge yet respects the girl's fierce resolve. The two hurl themselves into one last exchange and drop each other at once, prompting Hayate to rule that neither advances to the following round.
