Summary

Under cover of night, someone frees the animals kept at the Fire Park. On her way to collect a new assignment, Sumire finds Konohamaru's squad bickering, and her own Team 15 is handed the job of rounding up the escaped creatures. Their teacher Suika welcomes their eagerness, and Hanabi judges the girls capable of handling it alone since nothing dangerous appears on the list. Meanwhile, Sai and Hanabi note that Wasabi and Namida still do not know the full story of Sumire and the Nue, a secret Sumire weighs whether to share.

The next morning Sumire hands out garments meant to hide their scent from the animals, and the team gathers several without trouble until a mix-up sparks a quarrel between Wasabi and Namida. A monkey on their target list snatches their lunch along with the keys to the enclosures, and Wasabi's cat-based technique leaves her exhausted before she can catch it. When she dismisses Namida's idea of planning together, Namida bursts into tears.

Alerted to a second list of missing animals, Hanabi heads for the team. Namida corners the monkey by herself but stumbles onto an enormous wolf, and her scream draws only Sumire to her aid. Sumire shields her and tries to have the Nue drain the wolf's chakra with little success, until Wasabi arrives and offers to bait the beast for Namida to strike. Wasabi's explosive tags detonate when Namida unleashes her sonic jutsu, knocking the wolf out cold.
