Gameplay & Modes

Players assemble a team of four characters and equip them with skills and items before battles. The Mugenjo mode sends that team climbing a 100 floor haunted castle, alongside mini games such as tree climbing and riddle solving challenges, and wireless ad hoc multiplayer is supported for one on one fights.

This entry restores three characters absent from the original Ultimate Ninja Heroes release, the Third Hokage, Shizune, and Kabuto, along with stages and story sequences that had been cut, effectively presenting a fuller version of the earlier game's content.

Release & Reception

CyberConnect2 and Artdink co-developed the game, and Namco Bandai Games published it. It released in Japan on March 30, 2006, in North America on June 24, 2008, in Europe on July 11, 2008, and in Australia on July 31, 2008. Reception was mixed: Metacritic aggregates a 64 out of 100, Japan's Famitsu scored it 30 out of 40, IGN gave it 7.1 out of 10, while GameSpot rated it 4.5 out of 10.
