Overview

The Intelligence Division was the information arm of the Allied Shinobi Forces, staffed by shinobi chosen for their talent at gathering and processing intel. Its purpose was to feed the alliance the knowledge it needed to fight Akatsuki. Inoichi Yamanaka captained the unit, making it a central hub for communication throughout the conflict.

Role

Rather than march to the front, much of the division's value came from coordination behind the lines. When the bulk of the alliance mobilized, Inoichi stayed back to finish a wide detection barrier, working alongside Ao of the Sensor Division. From there he ran secure channels through Chakra Transmission Communication Devices, warning the Second Division of the incoming White Zetsu Army based on Muta Aburame's final report, then passing Shikaku Nara's revised battle plan out to every division so the field ninja could act on it.

The division's operations were tied to its headquarters, which is where the war eventually caught up with it. When the Ten-Tails was revived, a Tailed Beast Ball struck the Alliance command post in a bid to cripple its leadership, and the central communication device was presumably lost in the blast.

Notable Members

Inoichi Yamanaka led the division as its captain and personally handled much of its critical relay work. Aoba Yamashiro joined the group after a rough stretch that Inoichi noted during the members' first introductions, while the excitable Tenga tried to catch his captain's eye. The unit also coordinated closely with Ao, a sensor specialist on loan from the Sensor Division, to build its detection network.
