Summary

As its soul prepares to depart, one of the resurrected dragons breaks free of Jiji's command and turns on him. Sakura rushes to mend his wounds, but Jiji begs her to let him die in penance. She refuses, insisting he still owes a reunion with Margo. Slipping toward unconsciousness, he muses on how his life might have gone had he held the strength of Sakura or Sasuke, then wakes and grumbles that she is stubborn.

Later, Nanara, the young king of Redaku, prays at a memorial for those lost in the dragon attack and regrets that he has not yet rebuilt the Astronomy Research Institute, his attention consumed by the capital and Nagare Village. Margo, now his attendant, reassures him that a newly crowned ruler need not blame himself. Nanara then invites Margo and Jiji to accompany him to a nearby lake.

Back in Konoha, Shikamaru interrupts Sakura and Ino's lunch to deliver an early report on the polar particles. He notes that Naruto keeps working through his illness, which Ino figures distracts him from his condition. Ino then spots Sakura's ring and explains that, because Sasuke forged it with Earth Release, it holds a trace of his chakra, the very thing that let him find Sakura when she lay poisoned under rubble. Catching sight of Sasuke passing by, Sakura swoons over how handsome he remains.

That evening Sarada cooks several of her father's favourite dishes, and when Sasuke fails to react, Sakura kicks him under the table until he offers praise. Once Sarada is asleep, Sakura mentions a letter from Kakashi describing Redaku's custom of couples trading wedding rings, and asks whether the ring was meant to keep other men away. Sasuke chokes on his drink, and Sakura thanks him all the same.
