Desired Pain…!!

With Hidan's severed head stitched back into place by Kakuzu, the immortal pair is ready to resume the fight. Seeing how drained Shikamaru has become, Asuma moves to pull his squad clear, only for Kakuzu to seal off the retreat. Izumo and Kotetsu throw themselves at the stitched Akatsuki member so their captain can charge Hidan, aiming to break the shared link before it can be restored. Hidan swings his three-bladed scythe, Asuma slips the strike, and the blade bites into Hidan instead. The relief lasts only a moment. Hidan has already stepped back onto his painted ritual circle, and the wound is mirrored onto Asuma, who buckles over in agony. Ignoring Shikamaru's frantic effort to reach him, Hidan drives the weapon into his own heart.

Kakuzu reattaches Hidan's head, reversing the damage Team Asuma had inflicted earlier. Asuma's attempt to withdraw collapses when Kakuzu blocks the way out. Izumo and Kotetsu engage Kakuzu to free their leader for a run at Hidan. Asuma connects on Hidan but is caught by the curse's backlash once Hidan returns to his symbol. Hidan closes the chapter by piercing his own heart, gambling that the linked damage will finish Asuma.

The installment belongs to the Akatsuki Suppression Mission arc and appears in Volume 36. Viz published it under the title The Pain You Desire…!! The mechanics of Hidan's ritual, which force both parties to bleed as one, drive the entire confrontation.
