Final Words is the 402nd chapter of the Naruto manga, collected in volume 43 within the Fated Battle Between Brothers arc. Set just after Itachi's death, it follows Sasuke as long-buried memories recast his brother in a new light and push him toward a fresh campaign of vengeance against the Hidden Leaf.
In the aftermath of his brother's death, Sasuke's mind drifts back to the years when Itachi was a devoted sibling. As a small boy he had worshipped his brother's talent and constantly begged for lessons, only to be met each time with a light tap to the forehead and a promise to teach him another day. Turning over their most recent meeting, Sasuke realizes that Itachi's dying gesture repeated that very same tap, paired with an apology for a promise he would never be able to keep.
Rather than seizing Sasuke's eyes as expected, Itachi had chosen a final act of tenderness, and Sasuke now accepts that his brother was, at heart, a good man instead of the villain he had spent years hating. With his Mangekyo Sharingan awakened, he turns to his team, which has just been rebranded from Hebi to Taka, and sets a stark new objective before them: the destruction of the Leaf Village itself.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
The installment marks a decisive shift for Sasuke as his grief calcifies into a war against Konoha. Its title points to the parting message Itachi delivered through that last touch, a moment that reframes the entire brotherhood at the emotional core of the Fated Battle Between Brothers arc.
"Final Words" is chapter 402 of the Naruto manga, following Sasuke as he relives childhood memories of Itachi and reinterprets his brother's death, setting him on a new campaign against the Hidden Leaf.
Sasuke remembers how, as a boy, he always begged Itachi to teach him, and how Itachi would respond with a gentle tap to the forehead and a promise to teach him later, the same gesture Itachi repeated moments before he died.
Sasuke comes to accept that Itachi was, at his core, a good man rather than the villain he had believed him to be for years, since Itachi chose a tender final gesture instead of taking his eyes.
After awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke tells his team, newly renamed from Hebi to Taka, that their goal is now the destruction of the Hidden Leaf Village.
"Final Words" is part of the Fated Battle Between Brothers arc and was collected in volume 43 of the Naruto manga.
