Summary

In a flashback to their early years, a young Sasuke joins his brother during one of Itachi's training sessions. Awed by what he witnesses, Sasuke begs Itachi to teach him a technique, but Itachi brushes off the request as he usually does, tapping his brother's forehead and promising to make time for him another day. On the walk home, Sasuke listens with wonder as Itachi describes the proud history and accomplishments of the Uchiha clan.

The two cross paths with their father, Fugaku, who brings up an upcoming assignment for Itachi. Itachi turns it down, explaining that he wants to attend Sasuke's orientation at the Academy instead. Recognising that his son will not be swayed, Fugaku offers to take on the mission in his place.
